Tagovailoa’s helmet made hard contact with Hamlin’s body as the QB scrambled for a first down in the third quarter at Hard Rock Stadium.

The former first-round pick immediately showed signs of going into a fencing response, with his arm going into an unnatural position.

Tua was treated by medical staff on the field for several minutes before being able to walk to the locker room under his own steam.

He was ruled out of the TNF showdown after being diagnosed with the third concussion of his NFL career.

Fans and former players were quick to send their wishes to the Dolphins play-caller, with many believing he should walk away from football for the good of his health.

“Tua fought back from absolutely horrifying concussions to lead the league in passing and earn that contract from the Dolphins. He has to really consider hanging it up after tonight,” wrote one fan on X.

“That’s it…. NFL go ahead and do the right thing. Tua has had entirely way too many concussions. He need to retire for his longevity health concerns,” added Dez Bryant, a former NFL wideout.

“Really hope Tua is ok, but he’s gotta seriously think about shutting it down. I hate saying this. His concussions are getting worse and worse and he’s a young man with his entire life ahead of him,” commented ESPN analyst Shannon Sharpe.

“Tua hang it up man, this is not okay,” added another fan.

Hamlin, who had a cardiac arrest on the field last January, sent his own message to Tua after the contest.

“My love and prayers with @Tua fasho.. Sending you strength and healing for a speedy recovery. Much love broski,” he wrote on X.

Tagovailoa was urged to quit the sport in 2022 by a concussion expert after suffering three huge hits.

The league changed its concussion protocol after he returned to a game despite being unsteady on his feet, per ESPN.

Tua signed a four-year, $212.1 million contract extension in July.

It came after he enjoyed a healthy 2023, starting all 17 of the Dolphins regular season games.

Emotional Miami coach Mike McDaniel was seen giving his quarterback a kiss as he walked off the field on Thursday.

“I’m just worried about the human being,” McDaniel said after the game.

“I was just worried about my guy. It’s not something you ever want to be a part of. You hope not to.”

“He is a great football player but he is an even greater human being,” Bills quarterback Josh Allen said following the game, which the Bills won 31-10.

“He’s one of the best human beings on the planet.

“I’ve got a lot of love for him, praying for him and his family, hoping everything’s OK.”

The Dolphins now have 10 days before their next game against the Seattle Seahawks.

Tua could be set to land in injured reserve, but McDaniel wasn’t thinking about “timelines” during the aftermath of TNF.

“Right now, it is more about getting a proper procedural evaluation and taking it one day at a time,” McDaniel said.

“The furthest thing from my mind is what is the timeline.

“We just need to evaluate and just worry about my teammate.

“We’ll get more information [Friday] and then take it day by day from there.”
