The reality star tested positive for COVID last year on the morning of her baby shower
Kourtney Kardashian says she contracted COVID from husband Travis Barker — right before her baby shower — on Thursday’s season 5 premiere episode of The Kardashians.
After returning home from touring Europe with Blink-182, Kourtney, 45, says Travis, 48, took a COVID test, which was negative. Then, “we make out for six hours.”
It was then that Kourtney noticed Travis “is hot. Like, his head feels very warm. ”
“Not a making-out type of warm. Like really warm,” Kourtney explains, saying he took a second COVID test, and they discovered he was positive. (He later shared a photo of his positive COVID test on Instagram.)

Once he tested positive, Kourtney stayed in the guest room. However, “that first six hours of just making out, I got COVID,” Kourtney says
She FaceTimes her mother Kris Jenner as she was was in the midst of preparing a vintage Disney Land-themed baby shower in her backyard for Kourtney, who welcomed son Rocky Thirteen in November.
“I want to cry,” Kris, 68, tells party planner Mindy Weiss. “You’ve done such a beautiful job. And it’s just hitting me. I’m like, ’Are you f—ing kidding?’”
Kris wanted to hug Weiss, but says she is going to “keep my distance” and take a COVID test since she had spent time with Kourtney.
“Travis has COVID. I’m shaking. I just want Kourtney to be okay. She’s a high-risk pregnancy,” Kris says. “I don’t know why I’m emotional. I just want her to be okay. I’m a little worried.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, “pregnancy is a factor that raises the risk of severe COVID-19. That risk stays higher for at least a month after giving birth.”
Kourtney and Travis come by to see the shower preparation before the guests arrive — but as she discovers, there’s an area set up far from the guests where she and Travis decide to stay for the party, socially distanced from everyone.
“You’re almost like a Disney character,” Travis tells Kourtney. “You just sit here and wave.”
“I feel like we’re the king and queen…of COVID,” Kourtney jokes in her confessional.
As Kourtney shared on Instagram, both she and Travis wore masks at times.

“Baby shower of my dreams ✨,” Kourtney called the event on her Instagram, thanking “mommy @krisjenner for turning your home into the happiest place on earth, instilling my love of all things Disney, and for throwing this baby shower to celebrate me and your thirteenth grandchild.”
She also posted photos of herself making out with Travis in the shower’s photo booth.
The COVID diagnosis came on the heels of another health scare for Kourtney, who shares three children — Reign, 9, Penelope, 11, and Mason, 15 — with ex Scott Disick.
On September 6, she and Travis disclosed that Kourtney was rushed to the hospital for emergency fetal surgery,
“I flew home for a life-threatening emergency surgery for our baby that I’m so grateful went well,” Travis posted on X (formerly Twitter).
And as Kourtney wrote on Instagram, “I am eternally grateful to my husband who rushed to my side from tour to be with me in the hospital and take care of me afterwards, my rock. And to my mom, thank you for holding my hand through this,” she continued.
“As someone who has had three really easy pregnancies in the past, I wasn’t prepared for the fear of rushing into urgent fetal surgery. I don’t think anyone who hasn’t been through a similar situation can begin to understand that feeling of fear,” she shared. “I have a whole new understanding and respect for the mamas who have had to fight for their babies while pregnant.”
She concluded, “Praise be to God. Walking out of the hospital with my baby boy in my tummy and safe was the truest blessing. 🙏🏼🤍.”
