A new video taken in Brownsville, Texas, shows a Tesla Cybertruck towing a giant bronze statue of Elon Musk down the street. The group behind the project aims to sell you a piece of the famous Elon Musk image as digital art in the form of an NFT.

The cult of personality surrounding Elon Musk appears to have reached a new peak. Where to even start here? As I have said in the title, a giant bronze statue of Elon Musk has been spotted being transported on a flatbed towed by a Tesla Cybertruck.

This has to be one of the strangest things we have seen a Tesla Cybertruck do, including a farmer powering his equipment using a Cybertruck to milk his cows.

Even months after the Cybertruck was released, there is still debate about whether the Cybertruck is a real truck and can do real truck work. The questions usually follow: can you use a Cybertruck to tow long distances and haul heavy objects?

Well, if there were any lingering doubts about the Cybertruck’s ability to tow heavy objects, we hope this clears them up: the Cybertruck is indeed a capable truck.

Kidding aside, the obvious question is, what’s going on here? The giant Elon Musk statue was spotted in Brownsville, Texas, where Elon Musk’s space venture, SpaceX, is building Starbase, a launch pad and rocket factory that will produce the next-generation SpaceX Starship rocket.

SpaceX is one of the biggest, if not the biggest, employers in the Brownsville area, and the company has brought several high-paying engineering jobs to the location.

There is a lot of excitement for SpaceX and Elon Musk in the area and a group calling itself ElonRWA appears to have set up shop in Brownsville, and this group is behind the Elon Musk statue.

At this point, you might be wondering what in the world would compel anyone to build a giant statue of Elon Musk. Also, looking at the statue closely, you might have noticed that Elon Musk’s face doesn’t look exactly right on the figure.

That is not by mistake or poor craftsmanship; the statue was commissioned to resemble a famously bad drawing of Elon Musk that has achieved meme status.

The drawing was made by Watch Your Boy five years ago and shared on Reddit, asking the community, “What do you think about my Elon Musk drawing?” The whole premise was funny because the drawing was obviously bad and made Elon Musk’s face look like it was melting.

Elon Musk made the drawing famous by responding ironically, “It’s like looking in a mirror.” The group ElonRWA found the person who drew the original picture, and this is where the story starts to look like a scam in the making.

ElonRWA took possession of the original drawing of Elon Musk and turned it into an NFT (non-fungible token). After the image is turned into an NFT, you can now buy and own a part of the digital asset.

Before the group’s latest giant Elon Musk statue, ElonRWA has already erected a giant mural of the famous bad Elon Musk drawing in Brownsville.

From what I have been able to gather, the giant Elon Musk statue being towed by a Cybertruck is an attempt to gain notoriety and direct people to purchase a fraction of the Elon Musk drawing NFT and own a piece of the meme.

Looking at the ElonRWA X page, the group on top of everything writes, “We found the original iconic sketch of Elon Musk and turned it into a (RWA) real-world asset meme-coin.” The group has posted a blockchain wallet address where you can purchase a piece of the NFT.

By now, I hope this goes without saying, but you should NOT spend your hard-earned money to purchase this NFT.

Elon Musk hasn’t directly addressed this issue yet. Still, even Musk is opposed to the idea of NFTs and the exorbitant amount of money spent acquiring the supposedly non-fungible digital assets.

At the peak of the NFT craze, when a Bored Ape NFT sold for tens of millions of dollars, Elon Musk took the image, made it his profile picture without receiving any prior permission, and wrote, “I dunno…seems kind of fungible to me.”
