LeBron James scored 12 points and reached 300 Olympic points in Team USA’s 103-86 win over South Sudan, but he remains focused on securing gold rather than personal milestones.
Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James continues to defy age. The 39-year-old scored 12 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, and provided 5 assists to help Team USA defeat South Sudan 103-86 and secure first place in Group C of the Paris 2024 Olympics.
With this performance, LeBron also made history for Team USA. He became just the third player ever to reach 300 Olympic points.
Carmelo Anthony, now retired, and current teammate Kevin Durant lead the all-time scoring list, but LeBron is only 30 points behind Melo and could surpass him in this Olympic campaign.
When asked about reaching the 300-point milestone, LeBron downplayed its significance.
“Not much,” James responded on what it means to him. “I mean, at the end of the day, I just want to win. I’m here to win and win the gold, and that’s my only mindset. It’s not even about scoring. It’s not about any of the stats; all the stats that pretty much don’t show up, you know, closing out, getting hockey assists if possible, just stopping guys from crashing the glass.
“It’s definitely an honor anytime you hear your name in any type of record books, but at the end of the day, I’m here for a bigger picture for sure,” LeBron added.
