Did we just watch Jesse Eisenberg and Kelly Clarkson become best friends?

The “Stronger” singer was immediately charmed by the A Real Pain creator when he came to visit her daytime talk show on Wednesday — so much so, that Clarkson ended up confessing her newfound admiration for him in the middle of their interview.

“I am deeply in love with you,” she declared, prompting Eisenberg to thank her repeatedly. “Your energy right now, I can match it, man!”

Clarkson explained that she could personally relate to Eisenberg’s fizzy energy and rapid speech patterns. “My general status is panic attack,” he confessed. To which Clarkson clarified, “Mine’s not panic attack, mine’s like, ‘Let’s do it!’ But we’re running on 11!”

“Oh, got it. So I’m the bad side of your good,” Eisenberg replied, before noting that this is just his natural disposition. “I wake up like this and then I can’t fall asleep like this.”

Earlier in their interview, Eisenberg made Clarkson burst into laughter when he described himself as a “generally not a fun person” who isn’t as invested in Halloween like his wife Anna Strout or their son.

“I’m more the itinerary — I stay back with the notepad, navigation guy,” he explained. “‘We did 22nd Street,’ you know, that kind of thing.”

He also provided Clarkson with a few tips on how to successfully trick-or-treat with her two children after they had a rough go of it last year.

“The trick is to find a building and then just stay in the building — especially if it’s not your building, because you don’t want to see those people again after you take their candy,” Eisenberg said. “And especially if you have my level of enjoyment of life: you want to stay inside a building.”

Clarkson added that being surrounded by so many people all out trick-or-treating wasn’t fun for her family. “I got real Texan in one moment,” she recalled of the incident. “I was like, ‘This is gonna end up on TMZ.’”

A Real Pain opens in limited theaters on Nov. 1. Watch Clarkson profess her love in the clip above.
