The Lincoln Lawyer co-showrunner Ted Humphrey discusses how the season 3 finale directly set up events in season 4, teasing potential storylines. Following the events in Michael Connelly’s The Gods of Guilt, The Lincoln Lawyer season 3 ends with the revelation of who killed Gloria Dayton and opens the mystery of another. Mickey (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) gets pulled over on his way to a vacation, and the police officer finds his client Sam Scales’ body in the trunk, which ties the upcoming season to another book.
Humphrey confirmed the suspicion that this twist of events in the finale suggests that they’d be adapting Connelly’s The Law of Innocence. He told TV Insider that given how the season 3 finale ends, “that would be the thinking,” but the fate of the next season is “in the hands of the audience.” The co-showrunner hopes that the ending would give viewers something intriguing to look forward to since they “very much want to bring” another season to life. Check out his comment below:
Sam Scales is in the trunk at the end, which means a fourth season would be adapting The Law of Innocence, correct?
That would be the thinking.
How are you feeling about the chances of a fourth season?
I mean, we’re in the hands of the audience, right? We’re quietly optimistic about it, but obviously, with Netflix, it always depends on how the current season goes. And so I would say to our fans and viewers of the show, if you want a fourth season, which we very much want to bring you a fourth season, then by all means watch and tell your friends.
What This Means For Lincoln Lawyer Season 4
Season 4’s Fate Is In the Hands Of The Audience
In The Law of Innocence, Mickey Haller is charged with first-degree murder and can’t post the multi-million dollar bail. He decides to represent him in court, mounting his defense from a jail cell while working with those he can trust to clear his name. Humphrey’s comment suggests that season 4’s plot would be very similar to what happens in Connelly’s book.
So far, Netflix has yet to renew the legal drama for another season. Humphrey’s comment also leaves season 4’s fate up in the air, indicating that whether they’ll return for another season depends on the reception of season 3. His comment also hints that the finale was meant to give viewers clues about which book they’d adapt next in the hope that they would help make season 4 a reality.
Our Take on Lincoln Lawyer Season 4
The Lincoln Lawyer Need A Season 4
The Lincoln Lawyer has garnered a lot of love from viewers and critics since season 1. With the season 2 surpassing viewers’ expectations and season 3 maintaining its high quality, The Lincoln Lasyer season 4 is in order. The addictive courtroom show needs to return for more, especially with the season 3 finale leaving the audience hanging on a cliffhanger. Ending the show like that wouldn’t do it justice.
The Law of Innocence sets up many intrigues for the upcoming season, especially given that the show will have to deal with one key challenge that involves Mickey’s half-brother Harry Bosch. How they’ll approach season 4 would be something very interesting to see, and hopefully, Netflix will give the green light to another season of The Lincoln Lawyer.
