A sequel to The Devil Wears Prada is in the works and at least two original stars are eyeing returns to their beloved roles!
Meryl Streep and Emily Blunt are both in talks for the highly-anticipated sequel, but it’s unknown if Anne Hathaway will also be back for the upcoming movie, according to Puck.
Oscar-winning producer Wendy Finerman, who brought us the first movie, is teaming up with Disney for the sequel as the studio owns the property after acquiring 20th Century Fox. Aline Brosh McKenna, who wrote the original screenplay, has reportedly been hired to write the sequel.
Plot details have already been revealed!
Puck reports that the sequel “focuses on Miranda Priestly, Streep’s Wintour-esque protagonist, at the end of her career, facing the decline of traditional magazine publishing. She’s forced to go head-to-head with her former assistant, Blunt’s Emily Charlton, now a high-powered executive at a Kering or LVMH-style luxury group, whose advertising dollars Priestly desperately needs.”
No official confirmations about the movie have been made yet.
The news comes days after we got our first look at Vanessa Williams playing Miranda Priestly in the musical version of The Devil Wears Prada, which just began performances in London.
