The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live episode 3 just confirmed how the CRM would handle Alexandra if the two ever converged. Due to Rick’s abduction and Jadis joining their ranks, there has long been speculation as to whether or not the Civic Republic Military was aware of Alexandria’s existence. The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live has since proven that the CRM, in fact, doesn’t know anything about them. But, as the show makes clear, that could easily change in due time.
Apparently, Jadis intentionally concealed information about Rick’s community from the CRM after capturing him. Okafor, as per his comments to Rick in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live episode 1, only had knowledge of Michonne due to messages Rick sent. For now, the CRM continues to be oblivious to Alexandria, but as Jadis said, she has a file that could expose their location to the higher-ups within the organization. As for what such a scenario would mean for Rick and Michonne’s friends, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live episode 3 shed light on the matter.
The CRM Would Send A Reclamation Team To Alexandria
Jadis explained that upon receiving details on Rick’s association with Alexandria, the CRM would send a reclamation team there.
Judging by Jadis’ comments, an encounter with the CRM would doom Rick and Michonne’s former allies. Jadis explained that upon receiving details on Rick’s association with Alexandria, the CRM would send a reclamation team there. According to Jadis, everyone at Alexandria would be “dead within hours.” The CRM’s history of laying waste to entire settlements indicates that Jadis isn’t bluffing; eliminating any potential risk to their security certainly sounds like the sort of preemptive measure they’d take if Alexandria were to land on their radar.
How CRM reclamation teams work was previously explored in Fear the Walking Dead via Isabelle and Al’s storyline. Isabelle’s escape from the CRM put one of their reclamation teams on her trail. The heavily-armed group of CRM soldiers hunted her down relentlessly This serves as a precedent for what the Alexandrians would contend with if a reclamation team ever arrived on their doorstep.
Could Alexandria Survive A Fight With The CRM (If The Commonwealth Helped)?
Thanks to Morgan’s quick thinking and the availability of a cannon, Morgan’s group defeated the CRM reclamation team in Fear the Walking Dead, but their success doesn’t give hope to Alexandria’s chances of winning the same fight. It stands to reason that since the CRM would know they’re facing an entire community, they’d send a much bigger team to Alexandria than what was shown in FTWD. With the CRM’s greater numbers and superior weaponry, the Alexandrians would be heavy underdogs in any battle between the two, regardless of any help they might have.
The Commonwealth is stronger than Alexandria and could take the CRM by surprise, but any impact they’d have would surely be minor – and amount to only a temporary setback for the villains.
While it’s worth noting that Jadis can’t be privy to Alexandria’s recent alliance with the Commonwealth, it’s highly unlikely that a team-up with Pamela Milton’s people would do enough to shift the odds in the heroes’ favor. The Commonwealth is stronger than Alexandria and could take the CRM by surprise, but any impact they’d have would surely be minor – and amount to only a temporary setback for the villains. Presumably, the CRM would send in more forces if necessary and bring about the destruction of both communities.
While powerful in their own right, the Commonwealth only has ground troops, hence why the CRM would have the advantage no matter the circumstances. The CRM’s helicopters, armed with both guns and their gas attack, should be well-equipped for taking on Alexandria and the Commonwealth if it were to come to that. With the resources currently available to both sides in a possible CRM vs. Commonwealth conflict, it’s hard to imagine a scenario where the villains lose. A lot would have to change for the CRM if Rick’s friends were to have any chance for survival.
Jadis’ Alexandria Threat Sets Up More Returning Characters
By setting up a situation where Alexandria winds up in the CRM’s crosshairs, Rick and Michonne’s spinoff set the stage for more Walking Dead characters to re-enter the picture. Unless Rick finds a way to make sure the aforementioned file isn’t read by anyone else, it feels like it’s only a matter of time before the CRM learns about Alexandria. Jadis putting that threat on the table supports the notion that The Walking Dead does indeed intend to tackle that possibility sooner or later.
With Alexandria under threat of a CRM attack, The Walking Dead franchise now has the tools it needs to put together an arc where Eugene, Aaron, and all the others become involved in the fight against the CRM. Whether it happens in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live season 2 or a Walking Dead crossover event, Alexandria eventually coming into play is feeling more and more likely for The Walking Dead’s future. Heading in this direction can lead to some long-awaited reunions and perhaps provide another stepping stone toward the CRM’s downfall.
