Actor Xander Berkeley has amassed over 250 credits to his name during his long-running career. He is one of those actors who pops up often in many well known series and his talents are showcased in a slew of noteworthy films.
He began his acting career in 1981, appearing in TV series like M*A*S*H, The Incredible Hulk, and Hart to Hart. This would lead to roles in feature films such as Terminator 2: Judgment Day, A Few Good Men, and Apollo 13.
In 1981, he starred in Mommie Dearest, his feature film debut. This psychological drama was directed by Frank Perry starring Faye Dunaway. Based on the autobiography by Christina Crawford, the story chronicles the life of Christina and her brother Christopher, who were adopted by actress Joan Crawford. The story features Crawford as an abusive and controlling mother who put her Hollywood career over her family responsibilities.
Berkeley is well known for his role as Gregory, leader of Hilltop in AMC’s The Walking Dead. He was introduced as Gregory in season 6 and portrayed this character until his demise in the season premiere episode of season 9.
He was a series regular as George Mason on the Fox action drama 24 and as Percy in Nikita, The CW action thriller. He guest starred in The Mentalist, a CBS drama, as Sheriff Thomas McAllister.
Other movie credits he is known for include The Fabulous Baker Boys, Candyman, Taken, Kick-Ass, The Maestro, Proud Mary, Dark Harbor, with fellow Walking Dead actor Norman Reedus, and more.
Xander Berkeley’s recent roles
Recently, Berkeley appeared in the Disney+ series, The Mandalorian and Star Wars: Tales of the Empire (voice only) as Captain Gilad Pellaeon. In 2022, he starred in The CW drama The Republic of Sarah. Other recent series he appeared in include FBI: Most Wanted, Bull, and McGyver.
Recent movie roles include Reagan (2024), where he portrayed George Schultz, former secretary of state during Reagan’s term. He also starred in the western Butcher’s Crossing with Nicholas Cage and Lockdown, a pandemic thriller.
