Attleboro Mayor Cathleen Desimone confirmed Friday that AMC will be in the city filming the second season of “Walking Dead: Dead City.”

Desimone said AMC will be shooting scenes for the “The Walking Dead” spinoff series at the former Locust Valley Golf Course, as well as at the old Highland Country Club.

AMC plans to transform the golf course into a “run-down” Central Park, while Highland’s clubhouse will be made to resemble a boathouse within that park, according to Desimone.

“It was supposed to be a secret, but the word is getting out,” she said. “But it’s really exciting, I’m happy to have them. I don’t know the last time we had a show film here, so if we can get on the map … come on down. We are open for business.”

Desimone said that, as a Walking Dead fan herself, she’s hoping to score a walk-on role.

The Walking Dead spinoff stars Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, whose characters were first introduced in the original franchise.

The series follows Maggie (Lauren Cohan) throughout a post-apocalyptic Manhattan as she searches for her kidnapped son Heschel. She is forced to rely on Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), who killed her husband in the original series, for assistance.

This is one of several spinoff series to be launched since the original show’s finale in November 2022.

AMC has also filmed scenes for the spinoff series in Taunton and Worcester.

It’s unclear exactly when filming will begin next week.
