THE WALKING DEAD and spin-off series Fear the Walking Dead may exist in the same universe but very rarely do characters cross paths. However, these are the 5 actors to appear in both casts.
TWD and FTWD crossover: Who starred in both series?
When AMC released a The Walking Dead spin-off in 2015, it’s fair to say horror genre fans were over the moon. Now five seasons strong with a sixth on the way, Fear the Walking Dead has had had no problems from leaving TWD’s shadow. It also offers fans the chance to see their favourite characters once more in a new environment, though only a handful have done so. Here are the top five Walking Dead cast members to crossover.
TWD and FTWD crossover: Morgan Jones
5 characters to star in The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead
5. Morgan Jones – Lennie James
Season four of FTWD kicked off with a lonely Morgan adapting to life on his own.
Morgan had already become a firm favourite among TWD fans having starred in the very first episode of the series.
He returned to The Walking Dead in a recurring capacity in season six before departing at the end of its eighth run.
The same year of his TWD exit, 2018, saw actor James take on a series regular role on Fear the Walking Dead.
TWD and FTWD crossover: Dwight
4. Dwight – Austin Amelio
The redemption of Dwight in The Walking Dead was arguably one of the most intriguing storylines of recent series.
After becoming one of Negan’s (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) saviours, it soon became clear Dwight resented the villainous leader.
Dwight took it upon himself to defeat Negan, contributing to his capture in the season eight finale.
This would be the last episode he appeared in on TWD but he soon returned as a regular in FTWD season five.
TWD and FTWD crossover: Jesus
3. Jesus – Tom Payne
Hilltop resident Jesus didn’t take long to become an integral part of the communities on TWD.
Over the course of three seasons, Jesus’s rational head and mind-blowing combat skills propelled him to one of the show’s best-loved characters.
This meant his death in season nine at the hands of the Whisperers hit fans especially hard.
Before his death, however, Jesus did make a brief appearance in FTWD.
He made a cameo in the season four opener to meet with Morgan.
TWD and FTWD crossover: Rick Grimes
2. Rick – Andrew Lincoln
The main man of The Walking Dead himself made a brief appearance in FTWD.
Again starring in the season four opener of the spinoff, Rick was shown asking for Morgan’s help.
Morgan refused, however, and stayed as a lone survivor now existing in the FTWD world.
Rick eventually left TWD in season nine, although actor Lincoln will return in a series of The Walking Dead films soon.
TWD and FTWD crossover: Carol
1. Carol – Melissa McBride
One of the last remaining TWD season one originals also played a part in Fear the Walking Dead.
However, Carol only appeared in a blink-and-you-miss scene.
She, like cohorts Rick and Jesus, starred in the season four opener to speak with Morgan.
Her appearance, albeit brief, was still enough for actor McBride to receive an acting credit for FTWD.
