The main cast of the show, Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, sat at a panel with the executive producers during Comic-Con 2024 to discuss the upcoming second season of The Walking Dead: Dead City. Without revealing too much, the cast and crew of the upcoming season had a lot to say. Upon speaking with Collider at the event, Eli Jorné, showrunner and executive producer, stated that the new season will take place about “six months” after the finale of Season 1The Walking Dead franchise Chief Content Officer and executive producer, Scott Gimple, also added that Season 2 will feel like “Season 1 was a reset from The Walking Dead for these characters and it feels like Season 2 is a reset of Season 1, because all these alliances shift around, and people shift around, and people find themselves on very different sides for reasons they didn’t expect.”

Season 2 of The Walking Dead: Dead City – What to Expect

The Walking Dead: Dead City is a spinoff series derived from the popular original show, The Walking Dead, and first aired on June 18, 2023. It features familiar characters such as Maggie and Negan. It became AMC+’s biggest premiere following the release of episode one, and earned an admirable Rotten Tomatoes score of 80%. Season one featured Maggie traveling alongside Negan through a desolate New York City with hopes of finding Maggie’s son, Hershel. The Season 1 finale ended with much uncertainty surrounding Negan’s future as Maggie traded him to The Dama, played by Lisa Emery.

Shortly after the Season 1 finale, Jeffery Dean Morgan had this to say about Negan’s current mental state: “I feel like Negan’s in trouble. I think it’s going to be the most vulnerable that we get to see him. Maybe ever. I’ve seen him and he’s in deep shit and he has to figure a way out of it… The circumstances of this season.” The start of the season will feature opposing storylines, featuring Negan and Maggie’s journey as their paths will slowly cross.
