Comedian Tony Hinchcliffe has been criticized online for making a joke about Kim Kardashian that many have deemed “misogynistic.”
On Sunday, the reality TV star attended The Greatest Roast of All Time: Tom Brady, which was part of the Netflix Is a Joke Fest. The event, hosted by comedian Kevin Hart, was streamed live, with multiple comedians and Brady’s former National Football League (NFL) teammates cracking jokes at the former quarterback’s expense.
Hinchcliffe was one of the comedians in attendance and many believe he took things a step too far when he made a joke about Kardashian.
After actor Will Ferrell made an appearance dressed as his iconic Ron Burgundy character from Anchorman, Hinchcliffe referenced the famous “Whale’s vagina” line from the film when he directed a joke at Kardashian.
“And how about the appearance from the great Ron Burgundy, huh? A whale’s vagina. Which reminds me, Kim Kardashian’s here. She’s had a lot of Black men celebrating her end zone,” Hinchcliffe said. “Kim, word of advice, close your legs. You have more public beef than Kendrick [Lamar] and Drake.”
This last comment was in reference to the feud that is currently playing out between the two rappers.

The camera then panned to Kardashian who smiled and nodded, as the surrounding audience members laughed. While people at the event seemed amused, others took to X, formerly Twitter, to slam Hinchcliffe.

“how many jokes about abusing women and revenge porn and general misogyny did they manage to squeeze into this, a roast of a man?” user @thenoasletter asked.
“How is it acceptable to make jokes like this again? Omg we’ve actually gone backwards,” posted @JayElHarris alongside multiple skull emojis.
User @SimplyAYT_ added: “Both racist and misogynistic but because Kim is an acceptable target he’ll get away with it unscathed.”Meanwhile, others wrote that while they may dislike Kardashian, Hinchcliffe’s joke was still inexcusable.
“Oh the misogyny is crazy here. I don’t even like that Kardashian family, but this is distasteful and crass. Wow,” user @iamntyrelldifferent wrote.
“I may wish hell upon her but misogyny is still inexcusable,” posted @alaiasmuse, while @LexxMoves added: “I really hate it when ppl do things that make me defend ppl I don’t like.”
However, not everyone was unimpressed with the joke, as @andysignore posted to X: “My god… Tony Hinchcliffe KILLED IT on the Roast of Tom Brady loved this burn on Kim Kardashian.”
During his roast on Sunday, Brady also made a jab at Kardashian, referencing her ex-husband, rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, and their four children together, North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm.
“I know Kim was terrified to be here tonight. Not because of this, but because her kids are at home with their dad,” he said.
When it was Kardashian’s time to take the mic and roast Brady herself, she faced boos from the crowd. It wasn’t until Hart asked the crowd to give her a chance to speak that the jeers subsided.
Actor Ben Affleck and comedian Chelsea Handler as well as former head coach of the New England Patriots Bill Belichick and former quarterback Peyton Manning were also in attendance on Sunday.
