Twisted Metal gears up for Season 2 with several new casting additions. The live-action adaptation of the eponymous video game sees The Walking Dead‘s Michael James Shaw among the fresh faces for the upcoming season.
Per Deadline, Shaw is one of three new actors confirmed for Twisted Metal Season 2, alongside High School Musical star Saylor Bell Curda and Interior Chinatown‘s Lisa Gilroy. All three join the upcoming season of the Peacock series in recurring roles. Their roles have not yet been revealed.
Shaw portrayed Commonwealth military member/resident Michael Mercer in the 11th and final season of The Walking Dead, AMC’s award-winning post-apocalyptic horror series that aired between 2010 and 2022. Shaw’s other small-screen credits include Blood & Treasure, Constantine, Limitless and the Roots remake. Marvel Cinematic Universe fans will also be familiar with Shaw, who starred as Thanos’ adopted son, Corvus Glaive, in the last two Avengers sequels, Infinity War and Endgame.
Season 2 Was Announced Last December
Twisted Metal Season 2, confirmed when Peacock renewed the series last December, is currently in production in Toronto, with newly released behind-the-scenes images featuring stars Anthony Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz on the set. Mackie and Beatriz return for the second season alongside Will Arnett and All Elite Wrestling star, Joe “Samoa Joe” Seanoa. Superman star, Anthony Carrigan, joined Twisted Metal in June, where he will portray the villainous tournament host, Calypso. The series also recently added Tiana Okoye, Patty Guggenheim and Richard De Klerk.
Peacock’s Twisted Metal adaptation is a live-action remake of the titular acclaimed PlayStation vehicular combat video game franchise initially released in 1995. Season 1 centered around Mackie’s central character, John Doe, a talkative milkman with amnesia who receives a golden opportunity to better his life. However, to achieve that life, John is tasked with delivering a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland, facing ruthless marauders and fending off destructive vehicles to complete the mission. Beatriz reprises her role as Quiet in Season 2, while Seanoa and Arnett portray the psychotic killer clown, Sweet Tooth, with Seanoa playing the physical character while Arnett voices him. Captain America: Brave New World actor Thomas Haden Church and Scream franchise star Neve Campbell played recurring characters during Season 1.
Twisted Metal Season 1 became a hit following its premiere last summer, becoming Peacock’s most-binged original series as it earned 400 million viewing minutes on the weekend after its debut. Season 1 garnered a 67% critical rating on Rotten Tomatoes, mostly garnering praise for its action sequences.
There is no release window set for Twisted Metal Season 2. However, fans can stream Season 1 of the live-action series on Peacock.
