Dear “Walking Dead,” what’s the deal?

Last week, you blew up social media with a shocking plot twist that plunged fan-favorite character Glenn, or so it seemed, into the certain death of a herd of munching zombies ready for human survivor buffet.

Was it real? A fever dream? A deception to trick viewers into believing something happened that didn’t happen? Or the most devastating casualty yet on the ratings hit about life after an undead apocalypse?

So, of course, we tuned in Sunday night to see what happened to Glenn, who’s played by Troy’s own Steven Yeun. And, equally inevitably, you pulled a post-Halloween trick on us with a Glenn-free episode.

Glenn-free? This did not sit well with some.

In fact, there was a lot of disappointment.

And this on a night when the competition included a World Series game.

The hour focused on Morgan, the family man who became a crazed zombie killer after losing his wife and son and then returned last season as a stick-wielding pacifist.

What happened to him? As last night’s plot went back in time, we learned that Morgan, who is played by British actor Lennie James, had become more devoid of a moral compass than the crooked Detroit cop that James portrayed on AMC’s “Low Winter Sun.”

But then he wandered into the goat-filled path of Eastman (John Carroll Lynch, the kindly husband of the “Fargo” movie) who taught him that he didn’t have to give up his humanity. Many long discussions ensued and much practicing of twirling their use-only-when-necessary stabby sticks.

As Chris Hardwick put it on the post-show chat session “Talking Dead,” Morgan’s Yoda was a guy named Eastman.

And what did we learn from this long, sloooow episode? Morgan: Regained his humanity. Goat dude: Doomed but at peace. Viewers: Still frustrated. But was there a clue in the opening credits, or just more diversion?

It’s like this, “Walking Dead.” You can have your one week of minus-Glenn suspense building. But next week, we need some answers. And no goats.
