THE WALKING DEAD has thousands of fans across the world but legendary horror director John Carpenter is not one of them.

John Carpenter claims The Walking Dead milks classic zombie films

The 68-year-old, who has directed classics including Halloween and The Thing believes the series is a poor copy of a 1986 film with the same name.

Speaking on the WTF Podcast, he commented: “The Walking Dead was a movies that George Romero made back in 1986.

“They have milked that, and they are still milking it. It’s unreal.”

He added he wasn’t impressed by the Paranormal Activity films either, stating: “Horror is due for a new beginning – it’s due for a resurgence.

“They have to change it. We have to change it up. We can’t keep doing these cheap poltergeist movies either. Paranormal… It’s just a cheap movie. Come on now!

Despite criticism from John, the AMC series is expected to “continue for a long time”.

Creator Robert Kirkman told Digital Spy: “I love that we show up for work every day as if it was our first day on the job.
