The Walking Dead was on our screens for over a decade and amassed a viewership, but some fans are scratching their heads over some ‘plot holes’ in the show
It’s been nearly two years since the last episode of The Walking Dead graced our screens.
The post-apocalyptic drama series traced the lives of survivors in a zombie apocalypse, constantly under threat from zombies referred to as “walkers”. For most of the show’s 177 episodes, the group was led by main character Rick Grimes, portrayed by Andrew Lincoln.
Over its 12-year span and 11 seasons, it inspired numerous spin-off shows. However, like any long-standing series, sharp-eyed fans have noticed some plot inconsistencies.
Recently, viewers were left gobsmacked when a social media user pointed out three problems with the show.
The fan, who goes by the online handle @bingerampage, alleged that there were errors with minor details such as gun reloads.
He elaborated: “In season two, we see Hershel (Scott Wilson) sporting his magic shotgun. Why is it magic, you may ask?
“Because it has infinite ammo. We counted so you don’t have to. And he fired a whopping 17 shots in a row without reloading.”
The TikTok user also suggested it was strange that Shiva, the tiger owned by King Ezekiel (Khary Payton), could distinguish between friend and foe. He then cut to a clip of the beast feasting on one of the Saviours, led by Negan (Jeffery Dean Morgan) who terrorised and killed several tribes in season 6 with his bat Lucile.
The actor unveiled some potential inconsistencies involving the walkers’ capabilities in the series finale, stating: “Nobody seems to have ever heard anything about Walker variants at the end of season 11. This means that Rick Grimes and Glenn saw walkers climb fences and decided they didn’t need to let anyone know about it. Good call guys.”.
A fourth watcher remarked on a substantial oversight, pointing out: “I feel like the biggest plot hole is the fact that variant walkers weren’t at the beginning and then rigormortis slows them down and makes them weaker.”
All 11 seasons of The Walking Dead are available to stream on Disney Plus.
