The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 adds a Sons of Anarchy star to the cast, with character details revealed. Long-time Walking Dead frenemies Maggie and Negan continued their contentious relationship in 2023’s TWD universe spinoff set among the crumbling skyscrapers of post-apocalyptic New York. Having succeeded in rescuing her kidnapped son Hershel, Lauren Cohan’s Maggie will return for more zombie action in season 2, alongside Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s ever-dangerous Negan.
With The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 production gearing up, the series has added a new cast member alongside its returning stars, bringing aboard Sons of Anarchy star Kim Coates (via Deadline). The new Dead City addition plays Bruegel, the leader of a New York City gang, who proves to be more intelligent and manipulative than he seems.
Is New Dead City Character Bruegel Negan’s Friend Or Foe?
The Walking Dead: Dead City season 1’s ending set up a new storyline where Negan becomes a player in the power structure of New York, having been recruited by the Dama (Lisa Emery) to unite the gangs of Manhattan and stand against the New Babylon Federation. It’s yet to be seen where Coates’ new character Bruegel fits into this picture, as the details released about him are scant, beyond his being described as intelligent and manipulative.
The Walking Dead: Dead City is available to watch on AMC+
The ever-cunning Negan would have no problem allying himself with an intelligent and manipulative man, as he consolidates power in his new role as the potential savior of New York. It could be, though, that Bruegel will prove to be Negan’s enemy as things shake out in The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2. Whether his new character becomes friend or foe to Negan, Coates brings plenty of grit and toughness to the table, having served a long and memorable tenure as one of the main members of the titular Sons of Anarchy on the famed FX biker gang drama.
