Deaths are not infrequent in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2. In fact, deaths are an integral part of this post-apocalyptic horror series. However, as far as the deaths of pivotal characters are concerned, they are not all too recurrent in the series.
For this reason, episode 4 of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2 has surprised many fans, as several crucial characters meet their end in this episode. Especially, there is one particular character, so far a cornerstone of the series, who breathes her last in episode 4.
The death of Isabelle Carriere is not something most fans would have seen coming. However, Isabelle, one of the most beloved characters in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2, died an unfortunate death while trying to protect Laurent. Her death will no doubt cast a long shadow over the characters.

Isabelle is stabbed by Losang in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2
Laurent’s presumed messianic powers have been one of the main elements propelling the plot of the series since season 1. As a result, several characters try to protect Laurent at all costs. However, there are certain fanatics who try to put Laurent in danger in order to test if he indeed has said powers.
Losang is one such character. He designs an elaborate plan to test Laurent’s divine powers: Laurent would be made to face off against zombies, and the former’s survival after the attack would be used as proof of his powers.
To carry out the plan. Losang desperately tries to find Laurent, who mostly has to be on the run constantly to evade the various dangers coming his way persistently. Isabelle gets to know of Losang’s plan, and this is where the plot of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2 takes a crucial turn.
Isabelle attacks Losang in a bid to protect Laurent. The latter, however, stabs her, causing her to start bleeding. She comes across Carol, and after a while, Daryl comes rushing to her. She breathes her last in Daryl’s arms, asking him to look after Laurent.
Isabelle’s death has naturally saddened fans. Showrunner David Zabel spoke to The Hollywood Reporter the following regarding her death on October 21, 2024:“In a longer season, I don’t think it transpires exactly the way it transpires. But in order to get to where we need to get in the time we have allowed, things have to happen fast.”
Isabelle’s death will have a profound impact on the others
A romance was brewing between Isabelle and Daryl in The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2. However, her abrupt demise has now put a definitive end to that. As Daryl meets her for one last time at the shocking death scene, one can sense the grief in his heart.
In episode 5, the usually active Daryl seems listless. There is a lot to do, like escorting Laurent to America, but a strange wave of lethargy has washed over him. It is clear that he is still reeling under the pain of Isabelle’s loss.
At the same time, Isabelle, before she died, implored Daryl to keep protecting Laurent. One can hope that this will keep the hero of the series going.
As for Laurent, Isabelle’s death has been an equally hard blow to him. Throughout The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2, characters have taken all sorts of risks to shelter and nurture him. Isabelle is the latest victim of the cause.
In the latest episode of the series, Laurent is seen grappling with the guilt that several people have lost their lives in a bid to preserve his. He even refuses to go to America, asking Daryl to return home alone. Laurent has started seeing himself as some kind of curse now.
Isabelle’s death could drive the plot of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 2 in a certain direction. Now that Carol has entered the picture, she and Daryl might team up. While it is not yet known if the two will get involved in a romantic relationship in the future, it is likely that Isabelle’s death will keep haunting the characters for some time to come.
