Inspired by an ’80s TV show of the same name, the films sees Gosling play a “seasoned but aging” stuntman named Colt Seavers. He soon finds himself back on set with his ex-girlfriend and director Jody as the lead role in her new film after the original actor, Tom Ryder (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), goes missing.

In a bid to impress Jody, Colt volunteers to hunt down Tom as the production is in danger of being shut down.

The film’s official synopsis continues: “While the film’s ruthless producer (Hannah Waddingham) manoeuvres to keep the disappearance of star Tom Ryder a secret from the studio and the media, Colt performs the film’s most outrageous stunts while trying to charm his way back into Jody’s good graces. But as the mystery around the missing star deepens, Colt will find himself ensnared in a sinister, criminal plot that will push him to the edge of a fall more dangerous than any stunt.”

Us actor Winston Duke, and Everything, Everywhere, All At Once’s Stephanie Hsu also star.

Ahead of its rescheduled release date on May 3, it has received glowing reviews from critics boasting a 90% rating at the time of writing on Rotten Tomatoes.

Speaking about the film, Hsu revealed making it had been “so fun”, adding: “David [Leitch] and [producer Kelly McCormick] showed me a sizzle reel last time I was in Australia, and I think it’s going to be so good. Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt — amazing, amazing. I’ve been a huge fan of Ryan’s since forever. I’ve always felt that he’s cut from the same kind of weirdo cloth actually, and he definitely is. He’s so funny, so silly and such an artist.”
