Meghan Markle and Prince Harry aren’t much different behind-the-scenes

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have plenty of celebrity friends, but one person they knew during their time in the Royal Family has now shared what they’re really like

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been described as “funny and pretty damn normal” as one of their friends opened up about what they’re like behind closed doors.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are well-known for their charitable endeavors and various media ventures, but not much is known about what they’re like away from work. However, their close friend Bryony Gordon has now changed that as she recalled spending the afternoon with them at their home in Montecito, California.

Bryony first met the pair during their time in the Royal Family and has stayed in contact with them ever since. Last year, she traveled to their home to interview Harry in relation to his memoir, Spare.

Bryony spent the afternoon at Harry and Meghan’s home and described ” the kids running around happily as we drank tea”. Harry and Meghan live in America with their two children – Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

During the afternoon, Harry showed Bryony a DIY photo wall he’d created, featuring pictures of his late mom Princess Diana. To thank Bryony for her visit, Harry and Meghan gave her a jar of their homemade jam.

Writing about the visit for the Daily Mail, Bryony said: “I was reminded of the fact that they are a pretty ordinary couple existing in an absolutely extraordinary situation.” She added: “There are no airs or graces with them, no desire to do anything other than protect their children from an increasingly digital world that likes nothing more than seeing the worst in people.

“A world that forgets that no matter how high profile a person is, they’re just doing their best, like everyone else.” Harry and Meghan have been open about their desires to protect their children.

The pair recently sat down for an interview with CBS News Sunday Morning’s Jane Pauley as they opened up about parenting. “Our kids are young. They’re three and five. They’re amazing,” Meghan gushed.

She continued: “But all you want to do as parents is protect them. So, as we can see what’s happening in the online space, we know that there’s a lot of work to be done there and we’re just happy to be able to be a part of change for good.”

When the host pointed out how parents feel naturally inclined to help their kids, Harry interjected: “If you know how to help.” He explained: “At this point, we’ve got to the stage where almost every parent needs to be a first responder.

“And even the best first responders in the world wouldn’t be able to tell the signs of possible suicide.” The Sussexes gave the interview to highlight their ongoing campaigns in online safety and cyberbullying.
