The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon is set to return later this year and Norman Reedus’ latest update makes me even more excited about season 2. After a successful first season, Daryl Dixon was renewed for season 2 and the show is scheduled to return to screens on September 29, 2024. The spinoff will focus on Carol heading to France to try and find Daryl, who will continue his European journey. Daryl Dixon season 1’s ending revealed the protagonist was conflicted about returning home to America after building connections with Isabelle and Laurent, making Carol’s involvement all the more intriguing.

Season 1’s quality story and cliffhanger conclusion already had me excited about the show’s impending return, but Norman Reedus’ recent comments make me even more desperate for season 2. During an interview for Reedus’ latest movie, The Bikeriders, he was asked about his spinoff show and The Walking Dead star dropped a comment that is hard not to get excited by. Reedus was very open about the project’s future and didn’t hold back about his enthusiasm for season 2 which creates some huge expectations for the show’s return, and I’m optimistic it can deliver.

Daryl Dixon season 2 will be officially titled, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol .

Norman Reedus Claims Daryl Dixon Season 2’s Finale Is The Best Hour Of The Walking Dead Ever

Reedus’ Recent Comments Set Up A Huge Finale For Daryl Dixon Season 2

Alongside announcing a potential fourth season of Daryl DixonNorman Reedus claimed that season 2’s finale is “The best one hour of Walking Dead television ever.” Naturally, Reedus is always going to hype up the show’s return, but this sort of comment makes me feel very confident about the spinoff’s second season. Reedus has consistently been full of praise for The Walking Dead, but I’ve never heard him sound so encouraged about a singular episode, and given how long the actor has been involved in the franchise, this makes season 2’s finale feel like a huge deal.

Not only will the finale itself be big, but if Reedus’ comments are true, it also elevates the rest of the season. For the finale to be The Walking Dead‘s best hour yet, it would have to cap off a great storyline, indicating that the entire second season should be great. This means Reedus could add to his best Walking Dead moments as Daryl Dixon by starring in a truly iconic episode, further cementing his legacy in the franchise. With the actor creating plenty of buzz around the project, I can’t wait to see what the finale has in store.

Daryl Dixon Season 2’s Finale Has Some Huge Episodes To Compete With

The Walking Dead Has Had Some Incredible Episodes In The Past

Norman Reedus’ claim may have increased my anticipation for Daryl Dixon, but season 2’s finale has some huge episodes to compete with. For the finale to truly be The Walking Dead‘s best hour, it would have to surpass every episode that has come before it which includes some gripping moments. The likes of “No Way Out”, “Too Far Gone”, and “Pretty Much Dead Already” stand out as some of The Walking Dead‘s best episodes, which are filled with scenes that made the franchise famous.

Having midseason breaks also allowed each season to essentially have two premieres and two finales, almost guaranteeing four great episodes every year.

Although there were a handful of disappointments, The Walking Dead usually produced incredible premieres and finales which were key to making the zombie series so popular. Having midseason breaks also allowed each season to essentially have two premieres and two finales, almost guaranteeing four great episodes every year. Occasionally, more character-focused episodes break this cycle like “The Grove” or “What Comes After” which show the series’ versatility and allow for some powerful payoffs. “Here’s Negan” also provided some wonderful performances and added depth to one of the show’s most complex characters.

The Ones Who Live proved that the spinoffs can compete when it comes to all-time great episodes, as “Years” and “What We” excelled, setting the stage for Daryl Dixon season 2. With the franchise producing countless memorable episodes, my expectations are incredibly high for Daryl Dixon‘s season 2 finale, but even if it doesn’t quite live up to the hype that Reedus has provided, I still have full belief that it will be great.

Why Norman Reedus’ Daryl Dixon Comments Are Exciting (& Not Just Promotional Bluster)

Norman Reedus Is A Walking Dead Veteran & Has Been Part Of The Franchise’s Best Moments

Although Reedus’ comment could simply be good promotion for the show’s return, his words are exciting given his longevity in the franchise. Norman Reedus has set Walking Dead records as Daryl Dixon, having played the part for 14 years. He was involved in the very first season of the show in 2010 and has continued to appear as the character every year since with 2024 continuing this impressive streak. As a result, no one is more suited to judging the franchise’s quality, indicating that his comments hold a lot of weight.

Daryl has been part of some of The Walking Dead‘s best scenes and episodes, proving Reedus is well-equipped to judge what the franchise’s best hour is, and if he claims Daryl Dixon season 2 is set to provide this, it’s hard for me to disagree. Reedus is a Walking Dead veteran who clearly loves his character and has made Daryl arguably the franchise’s most popular survivor, meaning he knows what fans are looking for.

With everything he has experienced during his time in the zombie series, I believe Reedus’ comments are far more than simple promotion, and I look forward to seeing just how good Daryl Dixon season 2’s finale really is.
