The Death Stranding 2 trailer is super weird, even for Kojima.

The PlayStation State of Play showcase gave players a deeper look at Hideo Kojima’s Death Stranding 2, the sequel to the critically acclaimed post-apocalyptic title Death Stranding, with a brand-new trailer. The trailer features gameplay and story reveals, ending the wait for players to know more about the game.

Death Stranding is a strange and weird game, but the upcoming sequel seems to top that with even more strangeness that fans got a deeper look at during the State of Play showcase. The Death Stranding 2 trailer has everything you would expect from a faithful sequel, and while it is delightful to see, it is also equally disturbing.

Death Stranding 2 Gets a New Trailer at PlayStation State of Play

Death Stranding 2 has got a new trailer at State of Play and it is very strange.Death Stranding 2 has a new trailer at State of Play, and it is very strange.

The State of Play trailer for Death Stranding 2 is nine minutes long and starts with a disturbing bit of a cat covered in ink and shows Fragile and one of her associates operating on a living patient, possibly recovering them from Death Stranding. The trailer gets weirder by the minute with a baby spewing out a flying ship, and the camera cuts to Fragile and Norman Reedus’ Sam Porter.

Sam Porter is seen in a conversation with Fragile, the owner of the delivery company called Fragile Express, who welcomes him to their new base of operations called Drawbridge. Fragile gives Sam a tour of the new base, explaining that she has set up Drawbridge to reconnect the world like he did with the United Cities of America (UCA).

The trailer also shows an armory briefly with several kinds of weapons, meaning that combat will play a bigger part in the sequel than in Death Stranding. It also reveals that Sam is once again going on a journey to reunite the world, as it is “still on the brink of extinction.” Sam also has a doll/puppet that, according to Fragile, has useful knowledge.

Troy Baker is back to voice his antagonist character, Higgs Monaghan, who is back again to pay whoever killed him and has gotten a Joker-like makeover. Higgs is seen as a robotic character in the Death Stranding 2 trailer with an arc-welder-like electric guitar as a weapon, and it also reveals that he now boasts a robot army.

The trailer also showcases combat elements, and they look really exciting, along with several other exciting new features in several in-game environments that players will see in Death Stranding 2 for an experience like never before.

The trailer reveals that Death Stranding 2 will have plenty of weapons in comparison to its predecessor, largely because of the BTs seen roaming around. There would be several types of weapons, from snipers to assault rifles to pistols. The implementation of firearms could also mean that the game has no human enemies, and it’s only the robots that players will face.

Unlike only daytime in Death Stranding, the sequel will also have a night cycle, as seen in the trailer when Sam crosses a highway. The game also seems to have dynamic weather, with the trailer showing a bridge collapsing from a flash flood, rockslides, and more. The vehicles have also got new designs, as seen in the trailer, along with some other exciting changes.

Although the trailer gives players something to think about while they wait for the game’s release, the ending taking them back to where the trailer started, with the patient now floating in the air and a woman watching Sam Porter. The upcoming sequel is called Death Stranding 2 On The Beach and will be released sometime in 2025 exclusively for PS5.
