Negan is looking a little too comfortable as king of New York in The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 fan art. Season 1 of the spinoff series features Negan helping Maggie rescue her son, Hershel, from the Croat, only for Maggie to betray him by trading him to the new villain for her son. This results in Negan meeting the Dama, the Croat’s leader, who threatens Hershel’s life if Negan doesn’t help her take over all of New York City.
Now, akithefull has created a fan poster for The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2, showing Negan looking quite comfortable being the king of New York.
The poster highlights Negan’s new signature weapon, his crowbar, and sees him resting his foot on someone’s skull. Atop his head is a king’s crown, underscoring how he just might rule all of New York by the end of the show.
What Will Happen To Negan In Dead City Season 2?
The Walking Dead: Dead City season 1 ending sees Negan realize the only way to keep Hershel safe is to help the Dama take over the rest of New York City. This means tapping into his old self when he was the leader of the Saviors to stretch the Dama’s power beyond Manhattan. His new role sets up a season 2 where he’s forced to take over other parts of the city to ensure Hershel isn’t harmed.
However, Maggie is heading back to Manhattan, seemingly to bring closure to her feud with Negan by rescuing him. This could give him the opening he needs to escape the Dama’s grasp, though it’s unclear if he would take it considering her threats against Hershel. Instead, Negan may try taking advantage of his new position of power to oust the Dama from her leadership position, effectively ruling over all of New York City himself.
If Negan were to become king of New York as akithefull’s art displays, he’s unlikely to be the same ruthless leader he was when he was in charge of the Saviors. Because of his lengthy redemption arc, Negan could even renounce the throne and leave New York, ensuring he doesn’t suffer consequences for the Dama’s tyrannical rule. With plenty of ways for Negan’s fate in New York to play out, The Walking Dead: Dead City season 2 will have plenty to explore as he begins working for the Dama.
