The fictional comedy, which hits a little close to home, just received a pilot commitment from Fox.

Well, well, well. Buckle up, kids. Clear your DVRs. Text your friends. *Meghan Markle’s ex-husband is making a television show based on . . . Markle’s relationship with Prince Harry.*

O.K., O.K., it’s slightly more layered than that. Producer Trevor Engelson was married to Meghan Markle (Suits star and current Prince Harry girlfriend) from 2011 to 2013, when the two divorced. Now, as his ex-wife prepares to (maybe) make her first official appearance with the royal this weekend, news has broken that Fox is setting into motion a pilot for a single-camera comedy produced by Engelson (as well as Modern Family’s Danny Zuker, New Girl’s Jake Kasdan and The Shannara Chronicles’s Dan Farah). The premise may sound familiar! Per Deadline: “Divorce is hard. Sharing custody is harder when an ex-wife marries a British prince. Sharing custody with the British Royal family in the unforgiving spotlight of London’s tabloid media is next level.”

Now, Engelson and Markle do not have any children, and Deadline stresses that the “comedy is fictional” and the “lead characters are not based on Markle or Engelson.” But, well, that is not going to stop us—and, uh, everyone else—from doing an extreme close-reading of the series once it airs, for any insights it might provide about their real-life dynamic and circumstances.

In fact, the idea for the show was generated by a conversation Engelson had with Farah, as he “mused about what would’ve been if he and Markle had kids and he had to share custody with the British Royal family one day.” There was reportedly, and unsurprisingly, “a lot of curiosity about the project about the broadcast networks,” and the commitment from Fox is the “biggest . . . for a comedy pitch at the network so far this season.”

If only we could see the text messages Markle is sending right now . . .
