Kim Kardashian doesn’t have time for Met Gala afterparties.

Shortly after a jaw-dropping red carpet moment at the 2024 fundraising event, the 43-year-old mogul hopped on her private jet heading for Hamburg, Germany, skipping out on the infamous post-Met festivities.

The reality star had good reason for doing so — she was headed to the 2024 OMR Festival, taking place on Tuesday May 7 and Wednesday May 8, to serve as a guest speaker alongside other “digital professionals” and entrepreneurs.

According to the conference’s website, the event brings audiences “information, inspiration and networking on all things digital business.”
“From top international speakers presenting on multiple stages and Masterclasses to a two-day trade fair, side events and Guided Tours, the OMR Festival is a MUST for digital professionals,” the website reads.

Kardashian was featured alongside other prominent figures in the digital space like music producer Rick Rubin, tech journalist Kara Swisher and author and podcaster Tim Ferriss.

On stage during her Tuesday, May 7 speaking engagement, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians alum said it was important for her to fulfill her commitment at the event despite attending the Met Gala merely 18 hours beforehand.

“I went from there to the plane,” she told the host. “Slept on the plane and here I am.”

When Swisher joined her on stage, Kardashian added, “It was really good to not go to all the after parties. It’s not really my thing to go out so it was the perfect excuse, because I really wanted to come here.”

In addition to discussing her entrepreneurial endeavors (like her hugely popular shapewear brand SKIMS), Kardashian also spoke about the Met Gala has evolved into a business opportunity for her.

“It’s an event that you really aspire to get invited to,” she said. “I’ve always been so into fashion and beauty that I wanted to go and see what everyone would look like and what they were wearing and just to make connections and meet people, which leads to some business ideas and some connections and collaborations.”

She continued, “I think it didn’t start off with that intent, I was just happy to be invited and among so many people I loved and respected and as you become friendly with those people and opportunities come about the nature of it could change.”

At the 2024 Met Gala, Kardashian pulled off yet another shocking look. She appeared in a sheer Margiela by John Galliano dress with a lace train featuring leaves and floral accents, but the most eye-catching (and controversial) part of the ensemble was the silver corset that gave her a teeny-tiny waist. She also bundled up with a simple gray shawl.

Speaking with Vogue, Kardashian explained that the look was meant to represent “the wildest night of my life in a garden” where she just ran out and grabbed her “boyfriend’s sweater and threw it on and had to get to work And my hair’s all messed up.”

Kardashian’s icy blonde hair was styled in tousled waves and loosely braided, adding to the effortless vibe of the ensemble.
