The Walking Dead fans will soon be able to rewatch Rick Grimes and Michonne’s epic reunion on a new streaming service. The Ones Who Live is heading to Netflix this January.

Beginning Jan. 13, 2025, all six episodes of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live will be available to stream on Netflix. The seventh series in The Walking Dead Universe originally aired on AMC and AMC+ from Feb. 25 to Mar. 31, 2024, earning largely positive reviews from critics. The review aggregate website Rotten Tomatoes reported that 88 percent of critics gave the series a positive review, which is high enough to earn The Ones Who Live a “certified fresh” label.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live was originally planned as a trilogy of films centered around Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes. However, at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, it was announced that the project had been redeveloped as a six-episode limited series that would focus on both Rick Grimes and Danai Gurira’s Michonne, presenting an “epic love story [between] two characters changed by a changed world.”

The main and recurring cast for The Ones Who Live also includes Pollyanna McIntosh — reprising her role from The Walking Dead and World Beyond — as Jadis Stokes/Anne, Lesley-Ann Brandt as Pearl Thorne, and Terry O’Quinn as Major General Johnathan Beale, while Breeda Wool, Andrew Bachelor, Seth Gilliam, Cailey Fleming, and Antony Azor reprise their roles from The Walking Dead in a guest capacity as Aiden, Bailey, Father Gabriel Stokes, Judith Grimes, and Rick “R.J.” Grimes Jr, respectively.

Could The Ones Who Live Get a Season 2?

In February 2024, ahead of the show’s premiere, Scott Gimple, Chief Content Officer of The Walking Dead Universe, teased the possibility of a second season of The Ones Who Live by saying that “anything is possible.” He explained, “We’re focused on this one right now. But this one came together in a really amazing way, where there were all sorts of plans. And then the world changed and we altered those plans.” The Ones Who Live ended with Rick and Michonne returning home and being reunited with their children, Judith and R.J., which leaves the door open for a second season to involve more cast members from the original Walking Dead series.

There is also the possibility that Rick and Michonne could reappear in one of The Walking Dead spinoff/sequel series currently airing on AMC: Dead City, following Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) as they trek across Manhattan to look for Maggie’s kidnapped son, and Daryl Dixon, which follows Daryl (Norman Reedus) and later Carol (Melissa McBride) in Europe. Season 2 of Daryl Dixon recently concluded back in November, while Season 2 of Dead City is set to premiere in 2025. A third season of Daryl Dixon is also in production and set to air in 2025.

The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live arrives on Netflix on Jan. 13.
