Pollyanna McIntosh argues that Jadis is not a villain in The Walking Dead, despite some of the questionable choices the character has made.

Some fans of The Walking Dead may see Jadis as a villain, but Pollyanna McIntosh has a different perspective on her franchise character.

Portrayed by Pollyanna McIntosh, the Jadis character will soon be returning in the new Walking Dead spinoff series The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live. The role she will play in the plot of the new series remains to be seen, but there are viewers who may have a hard time trusting the character, and she could end up serving as an antagonist. In any case, McIntosh doesn’t see Jadis as evil at all, addressing in an interview with Variety that she’s in agreement with WalkingDead boss Scott Gimple that the character is not a villain.

McIntosh said of Jadis, “She’s a damn fine person! I might be slightly subjective there. But you know, it’s the apocalypse at the end of the day. This is a situation in which all bets are off and life is very different. I had a long discussion with [showrunner] Scott Gimple about whether she was a bad guy or not and it was definitely the case of absolutely not, she doesn’t see herself that way at all.”

Pollyanna McIntosh brings up that “all bets are off” in a zombie apocalypse. Fans have also seen some of their heroes from the series, including The Ones Who Live‘s Michonne (Danai Gurira) and Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln), doing some questionable things on their own. It should also be considered that someone like Negan can evolve from the most sinister villain in the series to a fan favorite seeking redemption, as currently seen in the separate spinoff series, The Walking Dead: Dead City.

What Role Will Jadis Play in TWD: The Ones Who Live?

Michonne and Rick reunite in The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live, but as of now, Jadis is the only other character from the original series confirmed to appear in the new spinoff. There may be some big surprises that have not been publicly announced in terms of special appearances, however, so there’s no telling who else could be featured. Several newcomers to the franchise wiill also be debuting with new roles in The Ones Who Live. This includes Lesley-Ann Brandt, Terry O’Quinn, Andrew Bachlor, Matthew August Jeffers, Craig Tate, and Breeda Wool. Danai Gurira and Andrew Lincoln developed the series with Scott Gimple.
