Fallout 76 Mothman next to Ella Purnell as Lucy in Fallout

Fallout‘s TV future has the opportunity to add one of the most absurd aspects of Bethesda’s video game series. While not directly based on a specific game, the world of Fallout is on full display in the Amazon Prime Video adaptation, thanks to the characters, settings, and vast lore incorporated into the live-action show. Lucy, Maximus, and The Ghoul might be at the center of Fallout, but the TV show wouldn’t be a proper adaptation if not for the interesting details linked to the country’s apocalyptic history and what happened to the nation since.

Fallout‘s apocalypse deemed the use of Vaults for the portion of the public yesterday, allowing Vault-Tec to have a heavy hand in the universe’s lore. Of course, there’s also the Wasteland and those who roam the dangerous environment, risking encounters with warring factions. There are also lingering radiation threats, mutant creatures, and Ghouls to worry about, which all come into play by Fallout season 1’s ending. However, there’s another piece of lore that should make it into the show during Fallout season 2 or beyond.

The Fallout Show Should Include The Game’s Mothman

Mothmen Are Some Of Fallout’s Most Interesting Creatures

Each Fallout game has its own set of highlights, but one of Fallout 76‘s best additions was the presence of the Mothman. Based on the cryptid of the same name, Fallout’s Mothman (or “Mothmen” since there are more than one) is a winged, mutated insect creature that resides in the Appalachia area of the games. Plenty of creatures appeared in Fallout season 1, but it would be thrilling for the show to add Mothmen to the live-action Fallout story based on its history.

Before the Great War, there was a Cult of the Mothman, according to Fallout lore. The loyal followers viewed the creature as a figure who would protect them during the apocalypse. Many cult members initially survived the nuclear fallout, but even when most died out, the legend of the Mothman lived on. During Fallout 76, players can encounter the red-eyed creatures before they fly away when spotted. The game also features evidence of the cult as well as a museum dedicated to the creature.

A purple-eyed variant known as the Wise Mothman can be found after completing the The Path to Enlightenment quest in Fallout 76 .

Why Mothmen Would Be A Fun Addition To The Fallout Show

Mothmen Could Allow Fallout To Dive Into The Supernatural Side Of The Game Lore

including cryptid mythology in the form of Mothmen wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility for Fallout

Considering how well Fallout embraced the more bizarre aspects of the game lore, it would be interesting to see the show throw another fun creature into the mix. It has already been proven that aliens exist in the world of Fallout, so including cryptid mythology in the form of Mothmen wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility for Fallout. The show may not want to delve into the supernatural side of the franchise just yet, but thrilling and unexpected encounters could make for fun Fallout surprises.

If Fallout includes Mothmen, the show could also introduce the Cult of the Mothmen as a new faction for the show. Fallout has already made some game changes, so it would be understandable to tweak the group’s origin or even location. Of course, there’s also a chance that a future Fallout season could take Lucy, Maximus, or The Ghoul to the Appalachia region following whatever happens in season 2’s New Vegas focus. Either way, the Fallout show has plenty of exciting game details to use for future storylines.
