Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly purchased a home in Portugal, potentially securing a “Golden Visa” for European Union access. The move comes after their eviction from Frogmore Cottage in the UK last year.

Their new abode is said to be near Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank’s property in the CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club.

The Sussexes visited Portugal last September for a “romantic three-night break” following the Invictus Games in Germany.

Royal expert Angela Levin has questioned the motives behind the Sussexes’ Portuguese property purchase.

Speaking to GB News, she said: “Well, that’s very interesting too, because Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank is there.”

Levin expressed scepticism about the move, suggesting it might be a ploy to maintain royal appearances.

She remarked: “Is that a way that she can go? They can go round various countries in Europe and pretend that they’re still royals again.”

The commentator also noted that Meghan already has access to “nice sea and sand” in California, implying the move may have ulterior motives.

Levin’s comments highlight the ongoing scrutiny faced by the couple as they navigate their post-royal lives and establish new connections in Europe.

The acquisition of a Portuguese property may allow the couple to obtain a Golden Visa, granting them visa-free access to the EU’s Schengen area.

This could be particularly beneficial for Meghan, who abandoned her bid for British citizenship after leaving the UK in 2020.

The move comes after their eviction from Frogmore Cottage by King Charles in 2023, which left them without a residence in the UK.

Despite this, the Sussexes maintain a close relationship with Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank, who also own a home in Portugal.

Jack, 38, works in marketing and sales for CostaTerra, where the couple’s property is located.
