Elon Musk’s ex-wife took to Twitter last week and insisted that it was she and not her former husband who held their infant son in her arms when he died.
Justine Musk, the first wife of the Tesla and SpaceX boss who has been making waves in recent weeks since he acquired Twitter for $44 billion, responded on the social media site to another Twitter user who reacted to Elon Musk’s post from last week about his firstborn.
In 2002, Musk and his first wife, Justine Musk, welcomed their first son, Nevada Alexander Musk. But the boy tragically died of sudden infant death syndrome at the age of 10 weeks.
Elon Musk revealed last week that the trauma of losing his infant son was the key factor in his decision to keep Sandy Hook conspiracy theorist Alex Jones off of the social media platform.
“My firstborn child died in my arms,” the tech mogul tweeted last week in response to Twitter inquiries as to why he won’t allow the Infowars host, who has been ordered to pay families of the victims of Sandy Hook school massacre more than $1.4 billion for calling the mass shooting a hoax, back on Twitter.
“I felt his last heartbeat,” Elon Musk wrote.
“I have no mercy for anyone who would use the deaths of children for gain, politics or fame.”
When another Twitter user wondered whether the boy died from sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), Justine Musk, the Canadian author, replied: “A SIDS-related incident that put him on life support.”
“He was declared brain-dead,” Justine Musk wrote.
“And not that it matters to anyone except me, because it is one of the most sacred and defining moments of my life, but I was the one who was holding him.”
In a subsequent tweet, Justine Musk responded to supporters and well-wishers, one of whom wrote: “Dad always wants to get credits, but, that should, actually, goes to mom. I believe it is the mom who felt that last heartbeat.”
Justine Musk responded: “Not the last heartbeat. The death rattle.”

The well-wishing Twitter user then wrote to Justine Musk: “Sorry for the inaccuracy, what am trying to say is that last moment is understandable to be spent on mom’s chest or arms.”
To which Justine Musk replied: “I know. 🙂 The details are just really important to me.”
Elon Musk, who fired Twitter’s communications staff upon taking over the company last month, could not immediately be reached for comment.

Justine Musk isn’t nearly as active on Twitter as her ex-husband, but she nonetheless has posted tweets that could be interpreted as subtle digs at his management of the site.
Last week, Justine Musk wrote on Twitter: “Anti-woke is not about woke but how people talk about woke or talk about talking about it or talk about talking about talking about it.”
She added that opponents of “woke” ideology “used [it] to distort ‘woke’ into a bogeyman used to push agendas that gave rise to woke in the first place.”

In another tweet from last week, Justine Musk wrote: “Stay F–king Woke.”
“The so-called war against wokeism is one of the dumbest things ever,” she wrote.
Her ex-husband holds the opposite view. In April, he denounced “the woke mind virus” which was making Netflix “unwatchable.”
Last week, he also stated that he would support Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis if he ran for president in 2024. DeSantis, a rising Republican star, has been outspoken in his denunciations of “woke” ideology.
Musk also mocked the stack of “Stay Woke” t-shirts that were cleaned out of the closet at Twitter headquarters last week.
“Found in closet at Twitter HQ fr,” Musk tweeted in a post with the video attached showing the t-shirts. He added two laughing hysterically emojis.

The video posted by Elon Musk, which has been viewed more than 24 million times, infuriated liberal Twitter users who were already seething over his decisions to reinstate controversial accounts including those of former President Donald Trump, the satirical news site Babylon Bee, Kanye West, and author Jordan Peterson.
Elon Musk said he bought Twitter to overhaul its content moderation policies and allow for greater freedom of expression.
After the death of Nevada Alexander Musk, Elon and Justine Musk went on to have a set of twins — Griffin and Xavier Musk — in 2004 and a set of triplets — Kai, Saxon and Damian Musk — in 2006, a total of five children.

Six weeks after filing for divorce from Justine Musk, Elon Musk got engaged to British actress Talulah Riley. The two would go on to get married in 2010.
They divorced for the first time in 2014 — only to reconcile and remarry 18 months later. In 2016, they divorced for good.
Musk has four other children — two with the Canadian singer and pop star Grimes and two more with Shivon Zilis, a 36-year-old executive who works for Musk at his brain chip company Neuralink.
