Vince is well known for his roles in Mississippi Burning, Identity, Constantine, and more.
Many fans of The Walking Dead consider the early seasons the best and fondly remember the long list of characters introduced during those episodes. There were also many characters who only had a short amount of screen time who are often forgotten. Who did Pruitt Taylor Vince play in the series?
In season 2, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his group moved to the Greene Family Farm. This move was the result of Rick’s son Carl (Chandler Riggs) being accidentally shot by a man named Otis, who, along with his wife Patricia (Jane McNeill), lived on the farm with Hershel (Scott Wilson) and his family. Otis was portrayed by Pruit Taylor Vince.
Otis appeared in two episodes but was shown to be a compassionate and unselfish person. He was distraught when he accidently shot Carl while hunting for deer and did all he could to help save him. This included going on a supply run with Shane (Jon Bernthal), an act that would end in his death.
Throughout the eleven seasons of The Walking Dead, there were many casualties, which isn’t unexpected in a post-apocalyptic world. But sometimes, these deaths didn’t come at the hands and teeth of the undead, but people were forcibly sacrificed for selfish reasons.
In episode 203, “Save the Last One,” Shane and Otis, who in the previous episode located the supplies needed to save Carl, were trapped inside a high school. When they finally make their way out, a horde of walkers descended on them. Shane shoots Otis, rendering him defenseless against the oncoming horde, leaving Otis to be devoured while he escaped.
