Liam Payne’s death sent shockwaves through the world with his family living the horror of his loss daily. Now, they’re looking to see justice after five were charged.

The death of Liam Payne not only rocked the world, but especially caused heartbreak for his dear family.
The One Direction star was found dead in Argentina on Oct. 16, 2024 after a fall from his hotel balcony. Immediately, an investigation ensued, including a look into his drug consumption. The authorities charged four hotel workers and a friend of Liam’s, Roger Nores, in connection to his death.
Charges against the individual range from the alleged sale of cocaine to alleged neglect. “What happened was foreseeable,” concluded Judge Laura Bruniard. She added: “They didn’t act maliciously with regards to the singer’s death, but they were reckless in facilitating his transfer to his room by taking him there. They created a legally unacceptable risk and Liam Payne’s death is the result.”
A friend of Liam’s family told The Sun: “It’s been a very difficult Christmas for them but they now just want justice for their son. Finally, after a horrific couple of months, there is a feeling like this could be possible.”

The star was visiting Argentina to attend his former bandmate Niall Horan’s concert, staying behind to enjoy a vacation with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy. After she returned to Florida, he spent time alone in the country. Reportedly, the star was seen in the hotel lobby before his death acting erratically and smashing his laptop. After being taken to his room, a 911 call was made, asking authorities to respond to a disturbance. They found his body lifeless on outdoor ground.
Liam’s formal cause of death was listed as “multiple trauma” and “internal and external hemorrhage.” A toxicology report indicated the presence of alcohol, cocaine, and prescription antidepressants at the time of his fall.
Roger was reportedly not welcome at Liam’s funeral with a source telling The Sun: “It’s true he and Liam had a bond but he’s never been popular when it comes to Liam’s wider circle. There is a difference in the narrative, Roger [Nores] would say he stepped back from working with Liam — others would say he was pushed. Many people didn’t even know Liam and Roger had reconnected until his fateful trip to Argentina last month.”
Liam’s One Direction bandmates, Niall, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, and Zayn Malik attended the funeral. Additionally, James Corden and Simon Cowell also paid their respects at the service.
