Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) and Beta (Ryan Hurst) from The Walking Dead

Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol episode 4.

Daryl Dixon is one of the most battle-tested survivors in the entire Walking Dead franchise, and his spinoff show looks to have set up his best opponent since season 9. Having already survived plenty of brutal fights throughout the main series, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon has continued to put the fan favorite in tough situations, forcing him to scratch and claw his way to safety. Having gone toe-to-toe with the Guerriers and Pouvoir in season 1, Genet’s group has remained a problem for the protagonist, while The Union also betrayed Daryl in season 2, giving him even more challenges.

Fortunately, most of Daryl’s battles in his spinoff have come against large groups of soldiers or zombies, which he has plenty of experience dealing with. One of Daryl Dixon‘s fight scenes saw Daryl take on numerous soldiers from the Nest in close-quarters combat, and with the protagonist taking them all down, it’s clear very few survivors are capable of challenging him. However, episode 4 seems to have set up one worthy opponent. Not only are they extremely capable of handling themselves, but Daryl now has a very personal grudge towards them, creating a potentially gripping brawl.

Isabelle’s Death Sets Up Daryl Dixon Vs. Losang For Season 2’s Ending

Daryl Will Be Looking For Revenge On Losang After He Killed Isabelle

Isabelle’s Walking Dead death may be a heartbreaking loss, but it sets up a compelling fight between Daryl and Losang. Even after being betrayed, Daryl wasn’t hellbent on killing Losang and instead simply wanted to stop his plan involving Laurent. Unfortunately for the antagonist, episode 4 may have just changed that. Losang was the one responsible for Isabelle’s death, as he stabbed Daryl’s love interest in frustration, eventually leading to her bleeding out. While Daryl may not know about this currently, it seems inevitable he will find out the truth and look to settle the score with the antagonist.

Given that Losang is still trying to capture Laurent and prove his immunity, his clash with the protagonist now seems unavoidable after killing Isabelle. Although the villain claims to be a pacifist, he has shown his fighting ability when sparring with some of The Union’s followers and seems quietly dangerous. Therefore, Losang’s impending fight with Daryl towards the end of season 2 could be one of The Walking Dead‘s best battles in a long time, and with the personal issues growing between the two, I can’t wait to see what happens when they next cross paths.

Daryl Dixon Season 2 Already Teased Daryl’s Fight Against Losang

Losang Offered Daryl To Spar Him During Season 2’s Premiere

While the plot has been escalating Daryl and Losang’s conflict, the show teased their fight even before The Union turned evil. During season 2’s premiere, Losang was sparring with two of his followers and managed to fight them both off with ease as Daryl arrived with some intel on Genet. After the two finished conversing, Losang asked Daryl, “Care to go a round?” to which the protagonist replied, “Not with that toothpick” in reference to Losang’s stick. The villain then laid down his weapon, but Daryl proceeded to walk away, which only made their brewing tension more compelling.

Losang clearly fancies himself as a capable fighter, and his challenge may have been a subtle attempt to bruise Daryl’s ego. However, the protagonist didn’t take the bait, adding to how intriguing a showdown between them would be. Despite Daryl being captured numerous times in The Walking Dead, he has always been able to fight against the odds and overcome even the most menacing survivors. Therefore, Losang’s confidence is either down to a lack of understanding when it comes to Daryl’s true skills, or a strong belief in his own fighting ability, suggesting that their future fight will be explosive.

Losang Could Be Daryl Dixon’s Best Opponent Since Beta In The Walking Dead Season 9

Daryl Vs. Beta Was An Epic Fight & Losang’s Fighting Abilities Suggest He’d Be A Worthy Opponent

With Losang appearing to be a secretly excellent fighter, the villain could become Daryl’s best opponent since he fought Beta in season 9. Although Beta survived until season 10’s finale, he faced off against Daryl in a one-on-one fight towards the end of season 9 and was more than capable of holding his own. Alongside being a pretty unhinged character, he was a physical marvel, meaning he was able to withstand plenty of punishment. After being stabbed in the leg, he still managed to overpower Daryl and had him dead to rights, only hesitating as he needed information.

Had Daryl not been useful to him, it’s possible the long-term survivor could have met his end during this battle. Beta also managed to survive being stabbed in the chest and being shoved down an elevator shaft, proving how tough of a challenge he was. It took both Negan and Daryl teaming up to finally kill him in season 10, making him one of the most intimidating fighters in the franchise’s history. As a result, Losang has a lot to live up to, but his fighting style closely resembles Morgan, who also possesses excellent combat skills.

Even if Losang can’t go through as much punishment as Beta, his strength seems to come from his defensive style, meaning Daryl could have a hard time hurting the antagonist.

Even if Losang can’t go through as much punishment as Beta, his strength seems to come from his defensive style, meaning Daryl could have a hard time hurting the antagonist. Add in the duo’s personal history, and Losang vs. Daryl has the capability of being one of The Walking Dead‘s best duels yet. With their conflict having so much potential, Daryl Dixon season 2 will hopefully capitalize on their feud and treat us to a compelling battle.
