Released in 2021, ‘Asibe Happy’ plays on Episode 6 of Season 1 of The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live titled The Last Time. The song plays as Rick, portrayed by acclaimed English actor Andrew Lincoln, and Michonne, played by talented Zimbabwean-American actress Danai Gurira, share a moment of triumph as they drive off into the distance, having just accomplished a seemingly impossible feat.

According to Vth Season, the creative entertainment agency that represents Ami Faku, amapiano and African music as a whole “are experiencing a surge in global popularity, making significant waves in the international music scene. This musical feature on a widely recognised and highly acclaimed American show is truly yet another testament to the saying ‘Amapiano to the World’.”

The song adds a touching layer to the story that is set in a world where humanity is fighting for survival against undead hordes. As the audience watches survivors find their way through the dangerous land of the zombie apocalypse, they hear ‘Asibe Happy’ playing, which offers them hope in the midst of chaos. The melodies remind characters Rick Grimes and Michonne of the world they left behind as they try to survive.
