10 Agatha All Along Moments That Hit Differently After the Shocking Finale!

10 Agatha All Along Scenes That Are Completely Changed After The Finales Major Twists

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Agatha All Along.

Agatha All Along concluded with a shocking twist that reframes the entire series after Billy Maximoff’s spectacular powers were fully revealed. Right in the middle of the Multiverse Saga, the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) takes a closer look at the supernatural and magical realm which operates inside the Sacred Timeline. The show serves as a spiritual sequel to WandaVision, where the character of Agatha Harkness was first introduced, and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, where Wanda Maximoff, aka, The Scarlet Witch, supposedly died.

While hopes were high that the show would finally reveal the fate of the Scarlet Witch, it took everyone by surprise when the final episode revealed the truth about the mysterious Witches Road, which the whole show revolves around. Despite the popular legend, and the several episodes where a coven of witches was faced with deadly trials, Billy was actually conjuring the road out of his own imagination, similar to how his mother reshaped reality around West View. But this reveal puts a lot of the other moments from Agatha All Along into a new light.

Early in the show, the legend of the Witches Road is established, with Agatha Harkness being named as the only survivor of the road. The road is supposed to grant any witch who completes the trials their greatest desire, but despite many witches trying, most die. When Agatha gathers a coven together, she sings the chant to conjure up the road, but when it fails to appear, she starts insulting the other witches, seemingly trying to goad them into attacking her. However, before they do, an entrance to the road appears, and Agatha looks genuinely astonished.

With the knowledge that Agatha knew there was never a road, that she had created the song and legend with her child as a way to lure witches to their doom and steal their power, and that she had carried this secret for hundreds of years, it’s no wonder she was stunned to see the road appear. Agatha was the only one who knew the road was not real. Even Billy, despite conjuring the road, was unaware that he was behind the magic.

9Jen Warning Teen About Agatha’s Darkhold History

During the first trial, Teen, later revealed to be Billy Maximoff, is getting to know the rest of the coven. At one point, he has a quiet conversation with Jennifer Kale, who warns him about trusting Agatha. Jenn shares that Agatha was rumored to have traded her own child in order to get the Darkhold, and she was someone who only thought of herself. Later in the episode, Agatha sees a vision of the Darkhold in a crib, seemingly confirming this theory.

However, since Billy was responsible for the road and the trials, it makes sense that he was just told this rumor about Agatha’s past, and moments later, conjures that image to taunt her. The reality was that Agatha cared deeply about her son, Nicholas Scratch, and she was devastated when she lost him. However, Jenn was right that she typically couldn’t be trusted, as she lured countless witches into a trap about the fictitious Witches Road to steal their powers.

8Agatha Tells Billy “I Didn’t Think You Had It In You”

Sharon Davis dead in Agatha All Along

At the end of the first trial, all the witches manage to barely make it out alive, but the mortal Sharon Davis was not so lucky. Having drunk more of the poison, and failing to get the antidote in time, Sharon, aka Mrs. Hart, was dead the moment the trial ended. As the group got back to the road, and when Agatha began to inspect the body, she mysteriously says “I didn’t think you had it in you,” which seems odd and is unclear who she is directing the comment towards.

With the revelation that this was Billy’s road, and that he created the trials, and at this point Agatha is the only one aware of this fact, it makes sense that this comment was aimed at Billy. Agatha was curious about what this fake road would present to them, and if the young boy who she just recently learned was Wanda’s son was capable of taking the vision to its natural conclusion, but seeing the dead body due to failing a trial, it made it clear that this was not a playful imagination. Agatha knew from this point on that the trials needed to be taken seriously, because the consequence of failure was death.

7Rio Vidal Popping Up In The Road

In order to continue along the road, the witches decided it was important to summon another green witch. With a simple spell, they manage to call on a powerful green witch who is introduced as Rio Vidal. However, despite being called on what is likely to be a perilous journey along the most legendary road in witch’s history, Rio is absurdly happy and excited to simply be there. This seems like an odd reaction, and paints Rio as someone who is not sensitive.

However, a few episodes later, Rio is revealed to be Death, which makes her an incredibly powerful character in the Marvel Universe. Since she is the physical form that guides the recently deceased to an afterlife, presumably she has met all the witches who died while traveling the road with Agatha, but since there never was a road, and Agatha was just killing the witches she fooled, Rio must have known the road was fake too. This explains her response to being on the road, and her conversation with Agatha about killing her coven.

6Singing Lorna’s Version Of The Ballad

During Alice’s trial, the group are forced to sing the Witches Road ballad, but not just any accappella version. Instead, they play Lorna’s version of the song, because they realize Lorna had designed it to be a protection spell for her daughter against the family curse. So, as a coven, they grab a variety of instruments and begin belting out the song. Agatha takes the lead with vocals, and together, they sing to destroy the family curse on Alice.

But for Agatha, this likely caused several layers of emotional response. The ballad was originally created by her and her son, Nicholas Scratch. Nicholas used it as a way to bond with his mother, and eventually, they adapted it to convince and trap witches about a magical road that could grant wishes. Agatha sang the ballad countless times before murdering groups of witches, and now, she was singing to save the life of her new coven.

5Agatha All Along Episode 4’s “With Coven Two” Argument

After completing Alice’s trial, Jenn and Agatha get into a debate about the lyrics of the ballad. Agatha argues that the lyrics say “with coven two, glory shall be thine,” while Jenn refutes this idea saying it makes no sense. Instead, she suggests it says “with coven true.” To settle the debate, Lilia suggests asking Alice, since her mother recorded the most popular version of the ballad.

However, none of the other witches are aware that Agatha was one of the original creators behind the ballad. In truth, when she said it was “with coven two,” she not only knew she was correct, but this was a reference to her and her son, who traveled together and relied only on eachother. Obviously, over time, the ballad was altered, and lyrics changed, but Agatha has the most authority to speak on her own song.

4“You’re So Much Like Your Mother”

Agatha All Along, Episode 5 – “Darkest Hour / Wake Thy Power”

Billy Maximoff in his blue crown in Agatha All Along episode 5

While the final moments of Agatha All Along episode 5 were already a huge reveal as it confirmed Teen was Billy Maximoff, aka Wiccan, and that he had powers, this moment is amplified following the reveals in the finale. The moment when Agatha whispers in his ear and confirms his heritage, Wiccan flies into a fit of rage. He controls Jenn and Lilia, and sends the witches flying into the air. This display of power and Wiccan’s outfit transforming to include a crown like his mothers is huge.

There were big hopes that the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s recently concluded show Agatha All Along would conclude with an appearance from the Scarlet Witch, bringing her back to life through the efforts of her son Billy Maximoff aka Wiccan (Joe Locke). However, Billy’s true mission was to get his brother Tommy back, meaning Wanda never appeared (though there were teases that she might not be dead after all). While I was very much hoping to see the Scarlet Witch again with a finale cameo, I do respect her absence as it allowed the show to retain its focus. That said, I would like to see either a Wiccan series or Scarlet Witch movie bring Wanda back in the finale.

But, more than this, Billy is literally like his mother in the sense that he has created a false reality unconsciously. While Wanda changed West View into her own playground out of grief and pain, Billy has created the Witches Road due to his intense hope of finding his brother. His powers are extraordinary, warping reality, and they can manifest without his knowledge/

3The Final Trial

In the penultimate episode of the series, Jenn, Agatha and Billy are the only witches that remain alive. They reach what appears to be the end of the road, but this is the moment where the road needs to give them what they most desire. Jenn is able to get her powers back, Billy manages to locate his brothers essence and send it into the body of a recently deceased boy, but Agatha doesn’t appear to gain anything from the road aside from her freedom after completing the trial.

While it seemed like the road was paying out, the truth was that things were more coincidental. Jenn’s powers were originally restricted by Agatha, so she was able to get them back. Agatha used her considerable knowledge of magic and spells to help Billy locate his brother, and Agatha was able to solve the puzzle, so she was freed. The road didn’t give Jenn her powers, or cause Billy to find his brother, Tommy, but it is satisfying how these things worked out in the end, and even Billy sharing his power with Agatha, which satisfied her wish.

2Billy Sharing His Powers With Agatha

Agatha All Along, Episode 8 – “Follow Me My Friend / To Glory At The End”

As noted above, Billy comes in his fully powered form, as Wiccan, when Agatha is about to face Death. Agatha is clearly outmatched, and her limited powers mean she has no real shot at winning the fight. However, Wiccan grants her power by sharing his magic, and making himself vulnerable for Agatha to take all of his power for herself. However, Agatha exercises restraint, and stops draining his powers before too long.

Billy Maximoff’s Wiccan has made his full debut in the MCU thanks to Agatha All Along, complete with his magical powers and comic-accurate costume. That said, I’m very curious to know just how powerful Wiccan truly is in the MCU considering his destiny in the original comics. On the page, Wiccan in the Demiurge-To-Come, a powerful being with command over creation itself who’s connected to the Elder Gods of the Marvel Universe. Considering that Billy created his own reality in Agatha All Along (just like his Nexus Being mother), I certainly think the possibility exists for the MCU’s version of Wiccan as well.

While this satisfied the road, and meant Agatha got her powers back, it was not as expected. Despite this, it was still Billy who gave her the powers, after they had completed the road. Ultimately, Billy acted selflessly, not knowing the road was not real, and still giving Agatha the benefit of the doubt despite having seen her drain other friends on the road.

1Jennifer Kale Finishing The Road

Agatha All Along, Episode 9 – “Maiden Mother Crone”

In the final episode, Jennifer Kale can be seen climbing out of the dirt near the sign which marks the entrance to West View. Having her powers restored, she looks out at the sky with pure joy, having completed the perilous road and getting what she most desires. She then flies into the distance, not looking back for her former coven, ready to explore life with her powers again.

However, Jenn left before Wiccan and Agatha were free of the road. Which means she also left before Wiccan realized the truth that he had created the road. Jenn has no idea that the road was not real, and that Wiccan is an incredibly powerful witch who has powers beyond her own imagination. With all of these pivotal moments taking on new meaning, Agatha All Along is one of the MCU shows most worthy of a rewatch just to see the ripple effect throughout the series.
