Joined in the first half by eight-time Super Bowl-winning coach Bill Belichick, the trio were left on the edge of their seats late in the second quarter as 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy let it fly.

On a second and 10, with under 20 seconds to go, and the Niners holding a 13-7 lead, Purdy let it rip towards wideout Brandon Aiyuk in the rear corner of the end zone.

While the throw was pinpoint, Aiyuk, who held out of training camp in search of a new deal, let it slip between his hands.

Eli gave Aiyuk some grace, saying he was “a little rusty,” whereas Peyton wasn’t quite so understanding.

“Get signed. Get in training camp. There’s a reason for training camp,” a clearly frustrated Peyton bluntly said.

“You need it. We need the reps. Get those contracts done earlier so he can get in training camp [so] we don’t drop balls on opening night.”

Again, Eli remained cool, calm, and collected, as he explained the difference between training alone versus with a team.

As for Peyton, he hadn’t quite calmed down just yet.

“You’re still catching balls at a high school field from some quarterback that’s 45 years old, my age,” he said.

“You’re not catching balls from your quarterback. Get signed, get in camp, and we don’t drop the ball.”

Viewers were left divided by Peyton’s take once it landed on X.

“I mean that’s a pretty difficult catch. Could be made, but not easy at all,” one said.

“Peyton saying what everyone else was thinking,” claimed a second.

“That works both ways! Tell [the] front office to get the deal done quicker so they can get into camp!” commented another.

While a fourth added, “This is why I love Peyton Manning.”

The 49ers announced that Aiyuk had put pen to paper on a new deal on September 3.

His four-year deal is worth $120 million in total – $76 million of which is guaranteed.

It also included a $23 million signing bonus.

As for Monday’s game, Aiyuk finished with two receptions for 28 yards and no score.

Jauan Jennings had a team-high 64 receiving yards on five receptions.

San Francisco will return to action on Sunday when they head to Minneapolis to take on the Minnesota Vikings.
