The rapper documented much of the experience on her social media, including footage of her being placed in a police vehicle holding cell. In a video she shared on Instagram Live, she spoke with a policeman who claimed that she was in possession of drugs.
As authorities asked her to stop filming, she was placed in the vehicle holding cell. Though it’s unclear what occurred at the police station, Minaj was scheduled to appear in Manchester at Co-Op Live this evening as part of her tour, but the event was postponed in the wake of the arrest.
Minaj’s representatives did not respond when contacted by Variety for comment.
Minaj took to X (formerly Twitter) to address the situation in real time. She states that they took her luggage to search without her consent, and refused to let her see her own bags. “They’re being paid big money to try to sabotage my tour b/c soooooo many ppl are mad that it’s this successful & they can’t eat off me,” she wrote. “They got caught stealing money from my travel/jets. Got fired. Got mad. Etc.”
Police claimed to have found marijuana in her bags, which she says belonged to one of her security guards. “Now they said they found weed & that another group of ppl have to come here to weigh the pre-rolls,” says Minaj, who noted that marijuana is legal in Amsterdam, though it is considered illegal to transport in or out of the Netherlands. “Keep in mind they took my bags without consent. My security has already advised them those pre-rolls belong to him. Oh yea & the pilot wants me to take my ig post down.”
Minaj is currently on her Pink Friday 2 World Tour, which is scheduled to continue through Europe through July.
