Outer Banks Season 4 Part 2 brings shocking news, leaving questions about the future of Madelyn Cline and Chase Stokes’ characters

The shocking revelation could change everything for Sarah Cameron (Madelyn Cline) and John B (Chase Stokes)

The Pogues’ family is about to grow by one.

In part 2 of Outer Banks season 4, Madelyn Cline’s character Sarah Cameron learns she’s pregnant with her longtime boyfriend-turned-husband John B’s (Chase Stokes) baby.

The reveal is the first of its kind for the hit Netflix series, which sees the treasure-hunting stakes grow with each season but has never introduced this kind of twist before. It also comes after fans were speculating that Sarah might be pregnant when the trailer for part 2 premiered at the Poguelandia fan event in Santa Monica last weekend.

Sarah confirms the pregnancy in episode 7 after slipping into the pharmacy’s bathroom and taking two pregnancy tests, both of which are positive. When Kiara (Madison Bailey) comes knocking and sees the tests on the sink, Sarah spills the beans immediately.

Joking that it’s “impeccable timing” given their fight to keep the land they bought at the beginning of season 4 with the El Dorado gold and their ongoing hunt for Blackbeard’s treasure, Sarah’s nerves are immediately on display.

Kiara doesn’t exactly help as she describes their dire situation. “I mean … homeless, broke again, chased by killers. I don’t really know how it could get better.”

“It would be, like, super great if maybe you could find, like, one positive thing?” Sarah asks her, prompting a sweet moment between the friends.

“You’re gonna be an amazing mom. And John B loves you,” Kiara tells Sarah. “And you have all of us. They say it takes a village.”

Sarah doesn’t keep the news to herself for very long — despite Kiara’s various attempts at coaxing it out of her — and tells John B in episode 8.

As expected, he’s as sweet as can be after hearing the news, despite his own obvious shock and fear.

“I’m really, really scared. I don’t know what to do,” Sarah tells him with glassy eyes. “I don’t know how to do this. I know you don’t know how to do this. And we’re… so young. And I know the timing’s probably terrible.”

After John B pulls her into his lap, she admits, “I was really scared to tell you,” but he reassures her, “We’re gonna figure this out. Because we always do.”

Days before part 2 of season 4 premiered, Outer Banks was renewed for a fifth season, which its creators revealed would also be its last. “My hearts heavy,” Stokes, 32, wrote in a post reacting to the news and calling season 5 “one last ride.”

“Thank you to everybody who has tuned in these past 5 years. You’ve given us more than we could ever give back to you,” he added. “It’s always gonna be Pogues 4 Life.”

Outer Banks season 4 can be streamed in full on Netflix.
