Warning: This article contains SPOILERS for Agatha All Along
One Marvel villain introduced in Agatha All Along may have what could be the weirdest, most sickening superpower in the MCU. Phase 5’s Agatha All Along follows Agatha Harkness as she ventures down the legendary Witches’ Road after breaking out of Scarlet Witch’s spell. In order to access the Witches’ Road, Agatha creates a coven with three new MCU witches and a mysterious teenager, while seven other magic villains pursue her.
The mysterious group of hooded figures seen in Agatha All Along episode 2’s ending are a team of magic-wielding villains with a close connection to Agatha Harkness in the source material: the Salem Seven — Nicholas Scratch’s children and Agatha’s grandchildren. Agatha All Along‘s Salem Seven are much less colorful than the comic book team, and their transformations are considerably different. However, at least one member of the MCU’s Salem Seven is a faithful adaptation of her Marvel Comics counterpart.
Vertigo In Agatha All Along’s Salem Seven Has The Power To Induce Nausea
Vertigo Has The Most Distinctive Superpower Of The Salem Seven In Marvel Comics
Most of Marvel Comics’ Salem Seven have rather basic abilities. For instance, Brutacus is super strong, Thornn can shoot spikes from his body, and Hydron’s left hand is a water canon. However, one member of the Salem Seven stands out due to her strange yet powerful superpower. Vertigo has the ability to induce extreme dizziness and nausea in her enemies. Without having to throw a single punch, Vertigo can completely incapacitate her targets and weaken them for a long time afterward.
How Vertigo’s Power Compares To Other Terrible Superpowers In The MCU
Vertigo Is One Of Many Marvel Characters With Weird, Gross, Or Repulsive Abilities
Vertigo’s nausea-inducing superpower can result in some disgusting side effects. Yet, Vertigo’s abilities are far from the weirdest in Marvel Comics, as some unlucky Marvel characters are stuck with impractical, uncomfortable, or disgusting powers. For instance, Skin’s body has several feet of extra skin, Glob Herman’s body is made up of highly flammable wax, and Big Bertha can change size but needs to vomit in order to go back to normal. Forget-Me-Not’s mutant power is being immediately forgotten by everybody, and Bailey Hoskins can explode, but only once.
Some MCU characters also have superpowers with weird implications. The Fantastic Four: First Steps‘ Mister Fantastic can transform his body into countless different shapes, but he can also suffer terrible fates like being melted. She-Hulk: Attorney At Law‘s Mr. Immortal comes back to life every time he dies, but he doesn’t have any other ability like super strength or durability. And similarly to Agatha All Along‘s Vertigo, Guardians of the Galaxy‘s Mantis can induce extraneous sensations in her enemies’ minds, which can be extremely useful or laughably useless depending on the situation.
