A bigger crisis is coming in Rhaenyra’s way.

House of the Dragon ’s season 2 has finally dived deep into the whole action bringing the long-awaited war between House Targaryen’s members, and now it seems like the fierce fight against each other won’t be the biggest problem for both sides.

Ahead of grand battles that will surely see some of the Greens and the Blacks dying while protecting their leaders, the tension is rising not only between both teams, but also among each side’s members.

While the Greens now have to come up with a new plan of their attack after Otto Hightower is out of their league, the Blacks also just got another major issue that is likely to take place in the following episodes.

House of the Dragon’s season 2 episode 4 titled A Dance of the Dragons finally saw some of its characters kicking the upcoming war off with a grand dragon battle between Aegon and Rhaenys, with both of them eventually going down after Aemond and his dragon Vhagar entered the scene.

Though Aegon does appear to be significantly injured in the episode’s closing sequence, he’s still likely to survive the battle, something that can’t be said about Rhaenys who surely died alongside her loyal dragon Meleys.

Rhaenys’s passing comes as the first major loss of the war for the Blacks since she was Rhaenyra’s fiercest and wisest allies that eventually sacrificed herself trying to prevent much bigger tragedies for her team.

What comes next in the show will most likely be related to Rhaenyra coping with the death of her friend and supporter, but she may also deal with a much bigger trouble after the tragic news spreads across Dragonstone.

Will the Velaryons Go Rogue?

Rhaenys’ death is likely to cause even more tension between Rhaenyra and Rhaenys’s husband Lord Corlys Velaryon. Ever since House of the Dragon’s first season, Corlys has been pretty skeptical about Rhaenyra and Daemon’s ability to rule Westeros, yet Rhaenys was the one to eventually bring him to the Blacks’ side.

Now that he has lost his wife, Corlys may turn his back on Rhaenyra blaming her for a failed plan of the attack on the Greens that resulted in Rhaenys’s death.

Since Lord Velaryon isn’t a less important figure than any Targaryen in Dragonstone, his own decisions after his wife’s passing may severely affect the Blacks and the way they show themselves in the upcoming full-scale war.
