Aquarius girlies have it hard out here when it comes to relationships. While the air-sign is seen as the most innovative, progressive, and rebellious of the Zodiac, they’re sensitive side is often overlooked. Megan Thee Stallion knows all about the trials and tribulations of being an Aquarius – particularly about her need for space in order to create. A quality that can make friendships tricky when misunderstood.
“Rooted in teamwork, collaboration, and the concept of the ‘greater good,’ Aquarius is determined to make a powerful difference in the world,” writes astrologist Aliza Kelly for Allure. This kind of community-building can be seen across Meg’s music, most recently on her collaboration with GloRilla on their song “Wanna Be.” Coming off the Hot Girl Summer Tour, Meg and Glo have become besties. In the latest episode of Close Friends Only, Instagram’s podcast, Glo asked Meg what’s a non-negotiable when it comes to being her friend — and it was mostly about embracing her Aquarius tendencies.
“I’m an Aquarius and the way that I act is just so carefree and go with the flow,” she said. “And sometimes [I] can come off as cold and I’m not trying to be standoffish…I feel like going if you’re my real friend like you have to know that about me.”
The irony? Glo went on to share that her first impression of Megan Thee Stallion was “standoffish” before clarifying that she soon realized Meg was actually “sweet as fuck.” (Lol, true friends tell it to you straight.)
Freedom and independence is highly valued by Aquarians. So much so that you don’t want to get in the way of their alone time, or risk being viewed as attempting to control them. “Like sometimes I go missing because I’ll be in my own little world,” Meg continued. “And it’s not that I’m not talking to you. It’s just I’m doing other stuff. It doesn’t mean I don’t love you.”
Meg went on to say that she’s had a history of friends getting mad over her not reaching out for two weeks at a time. (Relatable.) This shouldn’t come as a surprise knowing that Meg’s Mercury is also in Aquarius, meaning she has an ~unconventional~ way of communicating. Sometimes a girl just wants to show up at a friends house after a prolonged moment of silence and act like nothing happened. “Like, why do you automatically assume I’m acting funny? I don’t want to be your friend if you feel like everything I’m doing to you is hurtful.”
GloRilla summarized it perfectly: “So, you don’t like a crybaby?”
“I don’t like a crybaby-ass-bitch,” Megan said, laughing. “Stand up! I’m your friend, damn. I don’t have to holler it every week.”
