The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon season 3’s rumored location has been confirmed, with Norman Reedus revealing where the follow-up season of the show is going to take place. Daryl Dixon season 2, subtitled The Book of Carol, will begin on AMC and AMC+ September 29, 2024, featuring Daryl’s continued adventures in France. However, it was unclear if the series would remain in France for the upcoming season 3, or if a new location would be featured as the story continues evolving.
Speaking with American Rider about his upcoming film The Bikeriders, Reedus confirmed that Daryl Dixon season 3 is going to be filming in Spain, confirming the rumored location will be the next stop for the zombie spinoff.
Starting at 2:44, when asked about filming more episodes of his reality show Ride with Norman Reedus, the actor let slip that he’s “headed to Spain to shoot more [of the] Daryl Dixon spinoff.” He confirmed that it would be part of season 3, meaning a major location change is going to come after the upcoming season of the show.
Spain was first featured during The Walking Dead special comic “The Alien,” featuring Rick Grimes’ brother Jeffrey as the main character.
What Daryl Dixon’s Location Change Means For Seasons 2 & 3
Daryl Dixon season 1 ended with Daryl deciding to stay in France with Isabelle and Laurent, seemingly to continue contributing to the Nest and their survival. However, as season 2 promotional material shows, he is still at war with the Pouvoir, who will seemingly discover where him and his group are located in the upcoming episodes. This makes France an incredibly dangerous place to be for him and the people he’s met. Even so, Carol is likely on her way overseas, her appearance a reminder of the home the show’s protagonist left behind.
However, the change in filming location doesn’t necessarily mean the show itself is going to change where the characters are. Another spinoff, Dead City season 2, is currently filming in Massachusetts, but will still be taking place in New York City in-universe. However, given the unique architecture of France and its famous locations, it is more likely Daryl Dixon season 3 is changing where its characters are too. This means a big shift is coming in season 2, setting the stage for a very different follow-up in the future.
