The season three finale of Emily in Paris left audiences uttering sacré bleu, with the drop of one bombshell after another.

Toward the end of the third installment of the Netflix comedy series, Camille (Camille Razat) sees Gabriel (Lucas Bravo) thanking Emily (Lily Collins) for helping him likely achieve a Michelin star. In his excitement, Gabriel tells Camille that they should get married right there, right now, and she agrees.

But, in the middle of the ceremony, she announces that she cannot marry Gabriel, since the only reason they’re together is because she knew he was in love with Emily and broke the pact the women had made not to date him. She proclaims that Emily and Gabriel have been in love since they met.

After hearing that, Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) breaks up with Emily, encourages her to pursue a relationship with Gabriel and leaves the wedding. And if that wasn’t enough drama, in the final moments, Emily tells Gabriel her feelings for him have always been there, and he reveals that the reason they were getting married is because Camille is pregnant.

So, understandably, fans are anxiously awaiting the show’s fourth season, which officially wrapped production on May 16. Camille is likely out of the picture romantically for Gabriel, but Alfie is still around, potentially getting in the way of Emily and Gabriel’s will-they-won’t-they to finally come to an end.

What will happen when Gabriel finds out about Camille’s relationship with Sofia (Melia Kreiling)? Is Alfie going back to London? Will Gabriel get his Michelin star? And, will Mindy (Ashley Park) and the band go to Eurovision?

When Will ‘Emily in Paris’ Season 4 Be Released?

Netflix announced on May 3 that Emily in Paris season four would be split into two, five-episode parts, with part one premiering on Aug. 15 and part two dropping on Sept. 12. Season four officially started production in January 2024 and wrapped in May. Up until season four, every installment of Emily in Paris had filmed in the French capital during the summer before dropping on Netflix in December. Season four, however, began filming early due to the Summer Olympics in Paris because all shoots and productions from June to September will be prohibited. And with the show’s early production start, fans are being rewarded with an earlier release date.

Who Will Be in Season 4?

With the news about season four’s premiere date, Netflix shared the official cast list for the season. Emily (Lily Collins), Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), Mindy (Ashley Park) and Camille (Camille Razat) are all returning, as Emily and Gabriel finally have a chance to be together now that Camille has called off the wedding. But the fact that she’s pregnant and Alfie (Lucien Laviscount) is still in Paris could get in the way of them once again.

There will be plenty to unpack with both love triangles in season four, especially considering showrunner Darren Star noted audiences could certainly see more of Camille’s Greek lover, Sofia, played by Melia Kreiling. While Kreiling isn’t in the season four cast list, she does appear in the trailer, and Laviscount is confirmed to return as Alfie, despite the fact that he and Emily ended season three broken up. Star previously said that he feels Alfie is no longer romantically in the picture, but now that he’s in business with Gabriel, he definitely has a reason to stay in the City of Lights.

In season three, Emily decided to stay in Paris at Agence Grateau instead of returning to Chicago with Madeline (Kate Walsh), which means that Walsh may no longer have much of a role in the series. But there will be plenty more of Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu), Julien (Samuel Arnold), Luc (Bruno Gouery) and Antoine (William Abadie).

One person fans were hoping to see after she made an appearance at the Emily in Paris season three premiere is Kim Cattrall. While she wasn’t in the third installment, Star, who also created Sex and the City, isn’t opposed to bringing her onto the show in some capacity, but he wouldn’t do it just to do it. “I’m not a big believer in just stunt casting for the purpose of stunt casting,” he previously told Glamour. “And for Kim as well, a role that feels like it’s the right thing for her to do. But I definitely feel like she would bring some great energy into the series.” And with Samantha Jones now living in London, Paris doesn’t seem like that much of a stretch for her to take a two-hour train ride from The Swinging City.

In mid-July, Netflix released new photos (below) of Emily in Paris ahead of season four, which revealed new castmembers, including Thalia Besson as Genevieve and Eugenio Franceschini as Marcello.

What Will ‘Emily in Paris’ Season 4 Be About?

Netflix has shared the following official synopsis about season four: “After the dramatic events of Camille and Gabriel’s misbegotten wedding, Emily is reeling: She has strong feelings for two men, but now Gabriel’s expecting a baby with his ex, and Alfie’s worst fears about her and Gabriel have been confirmed. At work, Sylvie is forced to confront a thorny dilemma from her past for the sake of her marriage, and the Agence Grateau team navigates personnel shakeups. Mindy and the band prepare for Eurovision, but when funds run dry, they’re forced to get thrifty. Emily and Gabriel’s chemistry is undeniable as they work together towards a Michelin star, but two big secrets threaten to undo everything they’ve dreamed of.”

In a video announcing the show’s season four premiere dates, Collins and the rest of the cast teased the new season by sharing three words they think would describe the episodes.

Collins previously shared a video with viewers during Netflix’s TUDUM fan event over the summer, where she teased a little bit about what people can expect, primarily “answers” for all the big cliffhangers from season three. Will Emily and Gabriel finally get together? Is Alfie still heartbroken? Will Gabriel get his Michelin star? Will Mindy and the band go to Eurovision?

“It’s safe to say we ended on a dramatic note last season, and surprise! It does not end there,” she said in the video, adding, “What I can tell is we have more fun, more fashion and, of course, more drama in store for you all. Emily is going to have to decide if everything she’s ever wanted is really what she needs, and while Emily’s heart will always remain true to Paris, her life takes some unexpected twists this season. Don’t be surprised to find her on a Roman holiday.”

In interviews following the end of season three, Star teased a few more things he’d want to explore further in the next season, like Camille and Sofia’s relationship. There’s also a lot of uncertainty in the air with Mindy and Nicolas (Paul Forman). Where does she stand with Benoit (Kevin Dias)?

“Nicolas is a very smart character, but I think he is also a tricky guy,” the creator told TV Guide. “I think he represents a little bit of the Mindy who used to be, who she is very comfortable with. Benoit is a bit more of her artistic soul, and I think there is a real struggle. She has both sides of her competing for her priority.”

Star also explained that season four is going to be even more about navigating complicated personal and work relationships than it has been thus far. The season three finale sort of blew things up for Alfie, Gabirel, Camille and Emily, all of whom work together in some capacity, live in the same area and are intertwined in each other’s lives in more ways than one.

As the show has expanded from one point of view (Emily’s) to more of an ensemble, the showrunner told Glamour he foresees audiences getting to know even more about Sylvie and other characters than they do at this point. “From the beginning, she’s a character that doesn’t want to be known,” he explained to the magazine about the marketing exec. “You see the stories from different points of view. I think now that we see the world a little bit from Sylvie’s point of view, we’ll learn more about Sylvie.”

While Star doesn’t exactly know how much longer he wants the show to go, he has a few different ideas for how it could end, but he’s not tied to any one possible final storyline.

“As the show has evolved, so does your idea of where the characters are going,” he said. “They create their own momentum when you introduce new characters. The characters take on lives of their own, as they take you in unexpected direction. So, I don’t like to have hard and fast ideas about where it must end because I feel like, as in life, the characters will lead you in different directions.”

Is There a Trailer for Season 4?

Yes, finally! Along with a handful of first-look images (see some of them below), season four now has an official first look.

Netflix released the season four trailer on July 22, with a focus on Emily trying to move on after the lingering events of the season three finale. However, the new footage hints that she may be circling around to a big decision by season’s end.
