Patient Cardi B fans (affectionately called #BardiGang) are getting that patience tested again as the Rap diva confirmed her long-awaited sophomore project will not arrive before the close of 2024.
Spending most of the year teasing the project, the GRAMMY-winning femcee ended the summer by confirming she had not only recorded nearly 50 songs for the serially delayed opus but that she also shot its accompanying artwork including the cover.
And while that news led fans to believe an official announcement was just around the corner, those hopes were dashed when Cardi took to social media earlier this week to assure them the LP will arrive in 2025.
“I’ve been feeling so emotional lately,” she said on Instagram live on Sunday (November 17). “Because I know next year is going to be my f-cking year. This has been the most weirdest year I have ever experienced. I don’t know what the f-ck happened this year, I can’t even tell you. […] I fell in love. Then fell out of love, then got a divorce…”.
She was careful not to pinpoint a tentative release date for the yet-titled effort which is believed to be titled ‘Defamation of Character’ or ‘Intrusive Thoughts.’
As consolation for the latest pushback, however, Cardi suggested new music won’t be the only exciting venture she will have rolling out next year.
“Next year, my album will be out, my secret businesses will be out. I can’t tell you what I’m working on. Hopefully next year I get me a little boyfriend. I’m hoe-less right now. I gotta get my sh-t together,” she relayed.
The new album will serve as the follow-up to her history-making 2018 debut ‘Invasion of Privacy.‘
