House of the Dragon’s Phia Saban reportedly wanted to spend more time with her dragon Dreamfyre in the season finale, and fans agree.
The season finale of House of the Dragon recently aired to mixed responses. While the sophomore season of the show has received positive reviews, the finale seemed to have irked viewers who were hoping for some dragon action and the war finally beginning. Instead, the viewers were left with another tease.
Phia Saban’s Pitch For A Dreamfyre Scene Gains Approval From House of the Dragon Fans

Actress Phia Saban played the role of Halaena Targaryen in the HBO show House of the Dragon. The Princess has had a tumultuous time in the second season as her toddler son Jaeherys is brutally killed in the season premiere and her husband Aegon is burned by his own brother’s dragon.
By the end of the season, Halaena is revealed to be a dragon dreamer and has visions of the future. She also appears in Daemon’s haunted visions at Harrenhal. However, she refuses Aemond’s offer to ride to war with her dragon. Saban was reportedly disappointed with this, saying to EW,
It’s House of the Dragon, and I’ve got a dragon, and I haven’t got on it…I’d really love to get on the dragon, or at least have a scene with Dreamfyre. Dreamfyre, like Vhagar, she’s super ancient and big and cool. I’d like to see Helaena and Dreamfyre having a sort of spiritual connection, but I’m not complaining. I’m just happy to be here.

The season finale received an underwhelming response from fans who hoped for more battles between the dragons and the war between the two Targaryen families to finally begin. However, the finale ended with a tease, which fans believed was a waste of time. They seemed to have approved Halaena’s pitch on the other hand,
The actress also mentioned that she was extremely jealous of the actors who got to ride the dragons this season.
Phia Saban Loved How The Dream Sequence With Daemon Turned Out

While the stakes between the two Targaryen families have been amped up in the second season of House of the Dragon, Daemon, played by Matt Smith, went through his own version of hell as he was haunted by the visions at Harrenhal Castle. His arc from wanting the throne to himself to finally pledging his allegiance to his niece-wife has been interesting.
Phia Saban’s Halaena too makes an appearance in his visions, as he had ordered the hit on the Hightower family at the beginning of the season. Saban mentioned that she was pleased with how the scene turned out. She said,
When I read the episode, I was so excited to be involved in that trippy dream sequence. I was hoping that I was going to arise from a lake of goo or something or fly. But I was also really happy to stand there and talk. That was really exciting because we did that all on a green screen stage, just me and Matt, so it was really cool.
The finale also positioned her as a key player in the show and the war that will most probably finally happen in the next season.
House of the Dragon is available to stream on HBO Max.
