Rain’s character arc in Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black has a lot of shocking twists and turns, and she’s said to have died following some unexpected medical complications, but it’s unclear if that’s true or she survived. Two very different women headline the cast of Beauty in Black: Kimmie, a destitute woman who gets kicked out of her mother’s house, and Mallory, the ultra-wealthy kingpin of a hair care empire. As the series goes on, these two characters’ lives collide in unexpected ways.
Rain is the one who kicks off Kimmie’s journey in the series. She gets Kimmie a job at a strip club with a seedy underbelly, where she gets swept up in a criminal conspiracy. Midway through the series, Rain makes the risky decision to get a cosmetic surgery to improve her looks and help her pay back her debt to the club’s owners. However, there are complications with the surgery when the products involved in the procedure interfere with her asthma medication, and she’s admitted to hospital. But did she survive these complications?
Kimmie Was Told Rain Passed Away From Surgery Complications In Beauty In Black
Kimmie Went To Visit Rain In The Hospital, But She Wasn’t There
After Rain is admitted to hospital, Kimmie starts visiting her regularly. This bothers her bosses at the club, because when she’s visiting her friend in hospital, she’s not making them any money. One day, when Kimmie goes to the hospital to see Rain, she’s not in her room. The hospital staff tell her that Rain passed away due to complications from the surgery, but Kimmie doesn’t believe it. She begins to suspect that her shady employers had something to do with it.
Beauty In Black Later Reveals Rain Is Alive – Is It True?
Rain Was Moved To A Different Hospital
At the end of Beauty in Black season 1, Rain is revealed to be alive after all. In the season finale — season 1, episode 8, “Killing Karma” — Kimmie finally hears from Rain. While Kimmie and Angel are fleeing from the scene of a botched robbery at Horace’s safe house, Rain calls her and tells her she was just moved to a different hospital. While Kimmie is relieved that her friend is okay, she’s confused as to why the staff at the previous hospital lied and told her Rain was dead.
While Kimmie is relieved that her friend is okay, she’s confused as to why the staff at the previous hospital lied and told her Rain was dead.
Kimmie is still suspicious that her bosses could be targeting Rain, so she insists on going to see Rain at this new hospital to make sure nothing is wrong. Angel is reluctant to go, because he’s busy fearing for his own life, so he only agrees to a quick visit. Kimmie wants to stick around for a while to make sure Rain is okay, but Angel insists that they have to leave, because Horace is probably sending people after them. Beauty in Black will reveal Rain’s fate (and that of Kimmie and Angel) when season 2 drops in spring 2025.
