KANSAS City Chiefs teammates Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have become enemies for the evening.

The NFL superstars battled it out on social media over their respective alma maters.

Kelce and Mahomes are set to face the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4 of the NFL season.

But on Saturday night it was the Texas Tech Red Raiders college showdown with the Cincinnati Bearcats that had their full attention.

Mahomes was a star for Texas Tech in college, with Kelce playing for the Bearcats.

The 29-year-old quarterback was the first to fan the flames, tagging Kelce into a post of Texas Tech’s mascot The Masked Rider.

On the field, the Red Raiders overcame the Bearcats 44-41 in a thrilling shootout.

Mahomes couldn’t resist another dig at his teammate, sending another celebration animation Kelce’s way.

“Really thought the Bearcats were gonna find a way to win that one at the end… smh,” the gutted tight end finally responded.

“Cook him Patty!” laughed one fan on X.

“Opp. I guess this means we’re going see Travis in Texas Tech gear tomorrow,” responded another.

Mahomes had joked on Friday whichever player’s team lost should bring back their haircut from college.

“I left that look back in Cincinnati for good reason,” laughed Travis.

Kelce is hoping to rediscover his form on Sunday against the Chargers.

The 34-year-old tight end has endured a torrid start to the new NFL season, with rumors the star could even be benched.

‘Well-talked-about personal life’

Travis Kelce was asked about his relationship with Taylor Swift during an interview with Good Morning America.

But the Kansas City Chiefs tight end gave a cagey response.

“When you have good family and friends around you, it makes that aspect of life that much easier,” Kelce told GMA.

“I’ve always been a very grounded guy. It might not come off that way when I’m playing football.

“But off the field, I just want to be a genuine person. I try not to get too far down the road.

“Because you never know what opportunities are going to present themselves.”

He has caught just eight passes through three games for 68 yards and zero touchdowns.

It’s a far cry from his usual production, with Kelce being Mahomes’ favorite target over recent years.

Despite his personal struggles, the Chiefs remain 3-0 going into Week 4.

The U.S. Sun has been told Mahomes was showered with thoughtful birthday gifts totalling a whopping $70,000 from Kelce earlier this month.

“Travis loves watches, and he talks about them a lot with Patrick,” the source told The U.S. Sun.

“He had P and M engraved on the back to make it more personal.”
