Paddy Considine is possessive over the Iron Throne.
House of the Dragon has been establishing itself as a force to be reckoned with in the world created by George R.R. Martin. The spin-off series has done an excellent job of following up on the high standards set by Game of Thrones, and there is no denying that fans are absolutely hooked.
When actors are playing a role, they often lose themselves within the intentions of their character and the two begin to blur together. It would seem that during the filming of the first season of the series, the same happened to Paddy Considine.

During an interview, Eve Best revealed that the actor got possessive over one object on set.
Paddy Considine Took His Role a Little Too Seriously
As the parent franchise suggests, House of the Dragon is, at its core, a game of thrones. Every single person who has seen the Iron Throne at some point has envisioned what it would be like for them to sit on it and rule Westeros. This is a well-known fact and every person who sits on the throne is aware of it. Naturally, this knowledge would make anyone possessive of the metal chair.

While there is no denying that Viserys Targaryen felt similar feelings during his reign, it would seem that this trait bled into the actor as well. During an interview with The Guardian, Eve Best, who plays the role of Rhaenys Targaryen, was asked if Paddy Considine was possessive over his throne, and the answer seemed quite interesting.
A still from House of the Dragon I MaxYes, he didn’t want anybody else to sit on it. I never quite knew to what extent he was joking.
The actress revealed that during the filming of the first season, Considine became very possessive over the Iron Throne, not letting anyone else sit on it. He seemed to be so serious that Best was unsure if he was jesting or not.
Eve Best Also Embodied the Essence of Her Character Too Well
The fact that King Viserys Targaryen’s actor did not let Rhaenys Targaryen’s actress sit on the Iron Throne is quite fitting for House of the Dragon. In the show itself, Eve Best’s character was robbed of the crown simply because of politics and her gender. This fact seems to have haunted her through the years and is frequently brought up by The Queen Who Never Was.

It would seem that these traits have also bled into Best’s performance, who seems to feel very best for her character and the fact that she was robbed. During the interview, she continued that the fact that Paddy Considine never left her to sit on the Iron Throne was quite disheartening for her, as she was unable to ever sit on it, even outside of character.
Rightfully it should have been my throne. I had to settle for sitting on a replica one at Comic Con instead.
She even added that she had only been able to sit on a replica of the Iron Throne at a convention. The fact that life is imitating art only adds to the intrigue of House of the Dragon.
House of the Dragon is available for streaming on Max.
