Series starring Anne Hathaway can be watched in any order before the final episode. It really doesn’t matter which order you watch it, as long as you leave one specific episode for last.

If you’re a fan of watching TV where you don’t really care about the running order, or perhaps just having something on in the background while you scroll on your phone then there’s a show for you.

While some shows have to fill out the episode space pussyfooting around the ‘will they, won’t they’ stuff to pad the runtime and keep you engaged, an anthology show gets s**t done.

If there’s a story to be told they just get on with telling it, and the best thing is that you can basically pick and choose which bits tickle your fancy most of all.

They’re also pretty good to rewatch since you can just drop in on your favourite episodes without having to remember who everyone is.

If you’re subscribed to Amazon Prime then there’s a series like this starring Anne Hathaway, and also Andrew Scott, Tina Fey, Cristin Milioti, Dev Patel and plenty more.

This show is Modern Love, a 2019 anthology series which tells eight self-contained tales of love, and occasionally loss.

Hathaway might be the biggest star here, and her story revolves around her grappling with whether to reveal her bipolar disorder to potential partners.

However, if that story isn’t for you there’s plenty of other tales about love which the show says are based on true stories.

Since it’s an anthology series you can watch the episodes in basically any order you please and you won’t be left confused at what’s going on or whether you missed anything.

That also means that while Anne Hathaway takes a big place in discussions about the show she’s only the focus for one episode.

You will need to leave the final episode for last if you don’t want to spoil things for yourself or miss out on anything.

That’s because the characters from all the other stories make cameos in the last episode, so it wouldn’t have quite the same meaning should you jump ahead in that one way.

Basically, watch it in whichever order you like and pick out the actors you recognise the most to your heart’s desire, but leave episode eight until last no matter how desperate you are to see Jane Alexander and James Saito.

The series did get a second season starring the likes of Kit Harington, Sophie Okonedo and Tobias Menzies, but it appeared to drop the first season’s thing of having all the couples make a cameo.

Modern Love also kicked off a bunch of spin-offs, with three based in India, another one in Japan and a series in the Netherlands.
